Untitled[edit]

On 14:47, 24 February 2007, the following was posted on the end of the article: "It is proved that he is a homosexual due to his cooperation with Carmen Hernandez."

If it is actually proven that Kiko Argüellois is in fact homosexual then said 'proof' must be linked and properly referenced on the page. Otherwise the above statement is bias and does not follow Wikipedia's NPOV rule, and was removed for said reason. Also because of the fact that Ms Carmen Hernandez is in fact, a women, making the statement impossible.

I would also like to propose a more detailed article, that is, one fulfilling the description of a complete biography of Kiko Argüello. If anyone has any said biographical information I'm sure it's posting in the article would be appreciated.

NPOV Tag[edit]

This reads like a hagiograpy of the subject. Phrases like "valid for our times" and "community...in whom Christ manifested his love" don't sit right with the encyclopedic aims of Wikipedia. Well in this case I don’t belive that this article is baised, the sections clearly indicate certain events of his life. The only sections which you are disputing are the quote from JP2 and the part where the article describes the frist community. While the quote I belive should stay, because in the end it IS a quote and describes the early views of the way from the pontifical head, the section should be altered in order to fit a more common terminology.

The controversial work at the "Catedral de la Almudena"[edit]

I added two referenced data, as published by EL MUNDO (one of the two most important Spanish newspapers), reporting two objective facts that gave rise to some controversy.

The paragraph I added was as follows (it just added some text to a preexisting paragraph):

Just before to the royal wedding of the Crown Prince Felipe of Spain, Kiko was commissioned to paint the interior of the Almudena Cathedral of the Archdiocese of Madrid, in time for the said wedding, in 2004. This work has turned out to be controversial, since it had been previously assigned by an open international call to the artist Manuel Ortega in January, 1988 ^[1], and also due to the fact that the icons reproduced in the Catedral de la Almudena by Argüello were found to be an exact copy of those exhibited in a church located in Arroyo Hondo, near Santo Domingo^[2].

Even though every single sentence in this paragraph is referenced, it was erased by other editor.

The information I added is also part of the work performed by Kiko Argüello in the "Catedral de la Almudena". To erase it, is to give a partial view! Controversy is something which many artists find at some point of their careers. Avoiding to mention it, is just a way to give a partial view of their work.

Anybody could look after this article and check that the changes I claim for are absolutely fair?

But what your claiming makes no sense. Kiko Arguello is the artist of the original icons which were then reproduced by him in Madrid, in DR by another artist and in many other places. So yes he did in fact copy the icons, but from himself, not another artist, thus making the claim null. Ncwfl (talk) 22:00, 2 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi again: if you could provide the article with a reference supporting that (Argüello copied the icons from his own previous work) I certainly think the article would be even more complete.

The first thing I claim (the existence of a previous international call in 1988, which had already been won by the artist Manuel Ortega) is not a matter of making sense or not, is just a known fact supported by one of the main Spanish Newspapers (See Ref. ^[3]).

Concerning the later assignment to Kiko Argüello of the work in La Almudena, the fact that the icons were not original caused some debate (again, as reported by one of the main Spanish Newspapers, EL MUNDO, in Ref ^[4]). This debate was due to the general expectation of an original work especially designed for the marriage of the Prince and Princess of Asturias.

So both facts are documented: there was a previous international call and also some debate since the wedding of the Prince and Princess of Asturias was celebrated with icons that were not originally designed for that occasion. This article needs more reliable sources for the information put forth. For example, the only sources of info for this man's life is an interview he gave.
