Sammy Davis Jr.

Where does he come into the picture? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.184.176.201 (talk) 01:01, 4 January 2009 (UTC)

He was a close friend. David spector (talk) 20:59, 26 July 2009 (UTC)

Implication of losing her ability to act

I replaced some text that implied that Kim lost some of her ability to act in the early 1960s with an explanation for her reduced number of pictures after that time, including citations. IMO, Kim was always a great actress. David spector (talk) 21:03, 26 July 2009 (UTC)

I think this would be appropriate for the article, since there are no recent pictures of her on this site. How do I add it? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.233.18.83 (talk) 03:18, 5 January 2010 (UTC)

Unsourced addition

Even though the claim has been made that Miss Novak turned down the role of Holly Golightly in Breakfast at Tiffany's (film) I have been unable to find any proof of this assertion. The claim has also been repeated that Miss Novak said this in an interview with Larry King on his CNN interview show. I have been unable to find any mention of this in either Miss Novak's 2004 Larry King interview (2004 Larry King Interview) or in her call-in for an Alfred Hitchcock-themed show in 2003 (Call-in to Larry King). The unsourced assertion has therefore been deleted from the article. Shearonink (talk) 22:29, 15 January 2011 (UTC)

You can find the reference to Novak turning down Breakfast at Tiffany's in this People magazine article: http://www.people.com/people/archive/article/0,,20142557,00.html 76.174.148.81 (talk)

Kim Novak Variety Ad?

Should a section be added to this article about the recent ad Novak took out in Variety? The matter has received extensive and in-depth coverage in reliable sources:

The matter has a section in the Wikipedia article about the film in question "The Artist" here. Would like to get feedback from interested editors about possibly adding any material about the ad/fallout/reaction to this article. Thanks, Shearonink (talk) 20:28, 21 January 2012 (UTC)

Shearonink very courteously raised this issue on my Talk page after I removed the section from the Novak article. Based on the material in the Artist article, my only issue is whether this material belongs in the Novak article. To me, it's more about the movie(s) than it is about Novak herself. And if it were to be added to the Novak article, my inclination would be to make it brief (link to the section in the Artist article) and NOT make it its own section in the Novak article.--Bbb23 (talk) 20:32, 21 January 2012 (UTC)
Maybe a "See also" link in this (the Kim Novak) article would work, something like
  • [[The Artist (film)#Controversy|Controversy about Novak & "The Artist" ad in Variety]]
I'm just thinking that the matter is probably too notable & has received too much press coverage to not be at least mentioned (or linked-to) at this article. Cheers, Shearonink (talk) 20:49, 21 January 2012 (UTC)
I wouldn't have a problem with that.--Bbb23 (talk) 20:54, 21 January 2012 (UTC)
I created a "See also" section & placed a link to the controversy there. I think this solution preserves both of our concerns, but feel free to adjust as necessary. Cheers, Shearonink (talk) 21:20, 21 January 2012 (UTC)
Some of the material would seem significant for this page, namely Novak's statement that she herself has been raped, as well as the widespread criticism of Novak's rape metaphor from rape crisis groups.[1]

Kim announces that she has bi-polar disorder

Actress Kim Novak told an audience at the TCM Classic Film Festival in April of 2012 that she has bipolar disorder, and sometimes regrets her decision to leave Hollywood in the late 1960s at the height of her fame. Is there a question about the article here? The link you provided seems to be to the Farsi-language Wikipedia and any Wikipedia does not constitute a reliable source. Shearonink (talk) 06:04, 27 July 2012 (UTC)

Lefthandedness

While I can see it remaining in the article, I don't think its one of the most important things that belongs in the lead. I suggest it move down into the article somewhere. Mention of Hitchcock blondeness makes sense in the lead. (John User:Jwy talk) 23:23, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

Actually, I was just watching Vertigo and noticed it. It is noticeable in her acting. AKarley (talk) 15:50, 8 November 2016 (UTC)

TCM Interview.

I think it would behoove the editor of the Kim Novak article to obtain a typescript of the interview Turner Classic Movie host Robert Osborne did with Novak in April 2012. She talked extensively about a number of things, including her relationship with Sammy Davis Jr, and the pressure put on her by Columbia Pictures boss Harry Cohn to quit seeing Davis. Also, she talked extensively about both her father's and her own struggle with manic depression/bipolar disorder. The Osborn interview would answer a lot of questions on Novak's talk page and make her article much more complete.johncheverly 16:11, 7 March 2013 (UTC)

I'm Ms. Novak's web designer and when I saw this note during the course of updating her Wikipedia article today I asked her how she felt about this. she responded by saying it would be fine with her if this interview were included. Is there anyone else who would like to do this? Mr. Cheverly, do you have an opinion on where in the page it would be most appropriate to add the transcript of the interview? Thanks! Hanasazi (talk) 00:00, 2 May 2014 (UTC)

I added a reference to the interview with a link to a summary of it on TCM. --Light show (talk) 01:09, 2 May 2014 (UTC)

Consensus on infobox image

Hello all, I've noticed some of the editors (particularly IP addressed editors and editors without their userpage) have been switching back between her 1962 photo and her 1986 (or 1990s as the original description says) photo. I'd like to add my opinion. I would suggest using the 1962 photo; she is best remembered for her films in 1950s-1960s and doesn't make too many public appearances nowadays. Others may feel free to challenge this and even settle a different photos --Misterpither (talk) 03:31, 26 May 2020 (UTC)

Weird edits

What's going on with these https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Kim_Novak&type=revision&diff=1035591113&oldid=1034369740 — Preceding unsigned comment added by TouchOfGood (talkcontribs) 01:46, 1 August 2021 (UTC)

Vandalism ?

Just for the record, one user, "TouchofGood" (previously known as "Clotz247" ?), has a tendency to make very questionable photo switches and likes to replace beautiful images of Kim Novak, such as the one in the "Acting sporadically" section with a picture from another decade and obiously one that doesn't do her justice. We are lucky to be able use beautiful pictures of Kim Novak for each decade so what's the point of using unflattering images ? He does the same thing on several other pages.
