Confusion re location[edit]

I am slightly confused by this article and possible confusion over name or location. The coords and map put this as Kings Castle east of Wells, however the references and description put this near Wiveliscombe. Do we have two different sites in the same county with the same or similar name?— Rod talk 07:32, 24 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

All of the references and data there is put the castle near Wiveliscombe. This source directly puts it in the right place (Wiveliscombe). However I can see the problem. The King's Castle near Wells is called 'King's Castle Wood'. This source describes it as an 'iron age hill' so we may be getting confused with a castle and a hill fort. OK could you change the coordinates on this article & maybe we will start an article on the hill fort near Wells one day. The article also has an ext link to Curdon Camp & I wondered why?— Rod talk 15:14, 28 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Whoops. I must have copied and pasted that from Curdon Camp while I was making this article. Jaguar (talk) 16:24, 28 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
There are two prehistoric King's Castles in Somerset; one near Wiveliscombe, the other near Wells. Currently this article (at King's Castle, Somerset) and King's Castle Hillfort are about the Wiveliscombe hillfort, though this one is linked to at List of hill forts and ancient settlements in Somerset as being the Wells one, and began with the Wells co-ordinates.
There's also an article on a medieval castle in Ireland called King's Castle, and since there doesn't seem to be a clear primary topic I'm about to move them all to less ambiguous names and make a disambiguation page. ‑‑xensyriaT 15:22, 28 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
