Dates of activity[edit]

The legion was disbanded in 1816. Allthough several of their units were incorporated into the army of the Kingdom of Hanover, I believe, that it is not possible to say, that the Legion or parts of it were active till 1916! It was not longer in existance and the later armies just took advantage of it's battle honors.(Chapell vol 2 p.41) There was also much hardship among the men after the dissolution and the officers were not happy with many of their new commanders, quite a lot of them having fought for Napoleon at some time! Picture Depicting Private of 1st Batallion[edit]

He is wearing a green jacket. Only one regiment at the time wore such jackets; the Green Jackets light infantry (now The Rifles), made famous by Sharpe's War starring Sean Bean. yes, we can absolutely be sure about that! The founder of the light batallions (1st and 2nd) KGL must have admired the 95th and therefore took their uniforms as a model for the KGL's uniforms. There are enough pictures from the time and other sources which confirm this!The trousers of the KGL are grey, the trousers of the 95th are green. There are also some differences in the sleeves and the tschakos. The 1st KGL has 1 row of buttons, the 2nd has 3 rows. Anne-theater (talk) 01:20, 9 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The 95th were not the only one's to wear the green jackets, some American riflemen units used them and even if I'm not mistaken there were other British units at the time who had green jackets. The KGL definitely had green jackets within the light Inf. units. Jakednb (talk) 12:58, 17 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

How Many Squares at Garcia Hernandez?[edit]

The Article about the skirmish itself talks about THREE regimental squares the KGL broke up that day according to the after battle reports... This article talks about two.
