Talk:King Abdulaziz International Airport

Made the following edits:
- Removed the bit about King Abdulaziz dying in 1978, which is clearly absurd.
- Removed the bit about transit to Makkah. Makkah doesn't have an airport. Coaches from Jeddah are the ONLY way to Makkah, not a budget option.
There is talk in Jeddah that the new airport project has been cancelled. The original plan has certainly been thrown out as it was found that those responsible for the planning had set up the project in their own personal financial interests. Whether there will now be a new plan or it will be put on ice is anybody's guess. Certainly no building or any other sign of constuction has been visible since the planned September 2006 start date. 212.11.191.18 04:49, 15 January 2007 (UTC)
King Abdul Aziz International Airport hosted US air Forse inflight refuelings tankers during Operation Deseert Shiel/Storm. I witnessed KC135 and KC10 tankers landing at the Haj Terminal for apparent refuelling during the Gulf War. It has not only been a terminal for pilgrims, also it has of necessity been a refueling depot for allied air during the Gulf War.

Landing fee schedules
[edit]Salam alekum! I am working on a propsed passage for the Elon Musk wikipedia page (search my username on Talk:Elon Musk) that involves special fees for landing at Jeddah in the mid 1980's during a ten day religious holiday-related period. Was there such a policy at that time? What were the fees involved? Any tips for learning more about this? Thanks for any help with this. Geographyinitiative (talk) 22:32, 6 June 2020 (UTC)
