Demo

[edit]

I played a demo of the game on Xbox 360 on a Standard Definition TV and didn't notice it being particularly dark. Perhaps the comment should include a reference to "some say..." or "some have reported..." or something. It probably varies from TV to TV, and what someone else calls dark I might not. 24.60.164.166 04:18, 5 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It was reported by several major news channels, including the BBC and admitted by Ubisoft. If we go for "some say...", unfortunately someone else will come along and say "Avoid weasel words", and change it back. smurrayinchester(User), (Talk) 12:25, 5 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

What's up with the 'mountain' bats? They're the same as Terapusmordax, aren't they?Jerkov 19:59, 23 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

OK, so why are the differences so badly wrong on this page? Main Differences From The Movie seems to be written from the view point of both "the film differs from the movie in this way" and "the movie differs from the film in this way" Its badly written and needs changing. --217.65.158.124 11:34, 21 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Creatures

[edit]

I have some issues with the a few of the creatures listed here:

  • Mountain Bats/Skin-Birds- If you ask me these are the same as Terapusmordax, I don't see any differences between the two.
  • Venatosaurus impavidus- It looks nothing like the Venatosaurus impavidus described in The World of Kong; it is much smaller, has different physical features and a different color scheme. Looks more like something they made up for the game.
  • Giant crab/Cunaepraedator- The text already says it's much bigger than the Cunaepraedator described in The World of Kong, but that also means it's far more likely that it is a different creature altogether. Saying they're giant Cunaepraedator reeks of original research.

Well, the mountain bats are fatter than the Terapusmordax and have different style heads. --Indie.Bones 17:36, 23 November 2006 (UTC)Indie.Bones[reply]

I'm not editing it yet, first I'd like to hear some comments on whether or not this is correct. Jerkov 14:49, 24 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I see nothing wrong with the creatures you are having problems with since the Mountain Bats and Cunaepraedator do look like the ones from the World of Kong book. Sure there maybe some differences but that doesn't mean they are completly different creatures. However, I agree with you for the Venatosaurus impavidus, it doesn't look anything like the one in the book. So I put in another name, the Skull Island Raptor. Is that better?Johnny542 23:00, 2 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think the mountain bats are Pugbats. Benosaurus 16:38, 13 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Nah they are too big to be Pugbats, I think they are Skin-Birds. Johnny542 03:50, 17 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Skin-Birds' heads are too narrow. The bats in the game have big, bulky heads. Benosaurus 16:38, 13 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Now I'm going to laugh everytime I fight the Giant Enemy Crab lol!--Hero of legend 09:22, 13 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

In my opinion, from what I deduced from the Terapusmordax page (I think it is on that(if it exists)), the ones you are calling 'pugbats' or whatever, are the male species of the Terapusmordax, who live nearer to Kong's lair. --Gerrado 22:13, 13 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Weapon Supplier

[edit]

It states in the charecter section that Hayes is the weapon supplier. However in the game he only teaches you how to use the weapon, or sometimes he gives you his. Captain Englehorn drops the weapons from the plane so wouldn't that make him more of the weapon supplier? Altosax456 01:00, 27 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It depends on what you mean by 'supplier', Englehorn Supplies you with the weapons, Hayes is the one who HAS the weapons in the 1st place. Techo 15:53, 31 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Useless??

[edit]

The article says that the Mauser is useless at close range, but it's not, it's just not very good, especially against surplus enemies. Techo 15:41, 31 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ammunition

[edit]

In the Game-play section it says it lacks an ammunition readout, which is wrong because you can enable that in the controls menu. Techo 15:58, 31 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Limited Edition Cover

[edit]

The article Should also have a picture of the limited edition cover for the game. Techo 16:00, 31 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Preston's Death

[edit]

Just so you know, Preston wasn't killed by the V.Rex when crossing the chasim. Only Lumpy was killed by the V. Rex. Preston made it across and started shooting at the V.Rex. How he died in the game is never explained. Pay more attention when the V.Rex attacks. Anonoymus 6:35 20 January 2008.

This is someone else. Actually, I'am very sure that Preston was not killed at all. Instead, if you

look hard enough, Preston was wearing a red shirt and brown overalls. And in the level,

"Kong Struck Down," in the life-boats you can see Jimmy in his blue shirt in one boat, and in the other you can almost see a red shirt. Which is some proof he's alive.I don't know how he got to the Venture, but I'am 95% sure that Preston survived.

King Kong Video Game Deaths

[edit]

On PS2,King Kong The Official Game of the Movie, many people say differnt things about Preaston,Baxter,Lumpy,Cho, and all the other "dead" sailors. In the first level, in Prestons boat you see him,Lumpy, and Choy. In Jimmys' boat there was him and Baxter. You don't see Lumpy again, but in the level,V-Rex,people say it devoured him. That was Choy. In the level,Kong Struck Down, the life boaton the right had Jimmy and another sailor, and in the left was Preston and Baxter(how those two got to the ship is a mystery, and I'am 98% sure they don't die. And if you pay close enought attention, the dead sailors were wearing nothing like them in the levels,The Canyon, and the level were you find Ann,fight a V-Rex, and link up with Hayes and Jimmy. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.125.44.220 (talk) 16:01, 29 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Someone tampering with Awards and Reception?

[edit]

I believe, yes, it has indeed been victimized by reckless and unfunny trolling. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.203.74.170 (talk) 03:23, 26 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Claim that it won Best Action Game at the 2005 Spike Awards is erroneous. It did win three awards (Best Male Actor, Best Group Performance and Best Game Based on a Movie) but Best Action Game went to God of War: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ChijpR9HC7k — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.136.230.149 (talk) 08:03, 10 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Peter Jackson's King KongKing Kong (2005 video game) – Per WP:COMMONNAME, it should be King Kong, as most WP:VG/RS'es just call it 'King Kong', not the full title. Per WP:CONCISE, 'Peter Jackson's' can be omitted. Besides, its actual title, even longer, is Peter Jackson's King Kong: The Official Game of the Movie . Since there are several video games based upon King Kong (see {{King Kong}}, the 2005 disambiguation should enough. Also WP:PRECISE comes to mind: the article on the film - actually directed by Peter Jackson - is called King Kong (2005 film), while te article its video game adaptation, directed by Michel Ancel, is called Peter Jackson's King Kong. soetermans. ↑↑↓↓←→←→ B A TALK 16:33, 14 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
