Could this article merge into a larger article: History of Saxony

No. It's a former country and should therefore have its own entry. - 52 Pickup 14:22, 27 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Language[edit]

the languages are wrong. old saxon doesn't refere to what the common people call "saxon" nowadays. its a north german dialect/language. the dialect/language used in the kingdom of saxony is based on the dialects from the time of the electorate of saxony - an old exstinct variety of the thurungian-upper saxon dialects. since that old dialect was also the basic for modern standard german, "German" would be just fine as language.

one could also consider putting the "Meißener Kanzleideutsch" (german: "Meißen Chancery German" or "Saxon Chancery Language) as a written language, though it was not used the 19th century anymore. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mrotsten (talkcontribs) 16:56, 8 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I'd also suggest adding Sorbian. YOMAL SIDOROFF-BIARMSKII (talk) 14:56, 13 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Governance section[edit]

It is my opinion that this section of the article can be reduced in size. The section takes a bit to much of the article, and reducing the size of it could make room to talk about more subjects. Zyxrq (talk) 02:34, 25 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Request to rename "Soviet Republic of Saxony"[edit]

A request has been made to rename "Soviet Republic of Saxony" to "Saxony in the German Revolution (1918–1919)". With the renaming, "Soviet Republic of Saxony" would be removed from this page's infobox, and the reference to it in the text modified.
