|d|reason|3=Please add additional reliable sources WP:RS to verify the existence of this district.

It's not clear whether Kingston is currently a district.

Glasgow City Council seems to use the term 'Ibrox/Kingston neighbourhood' as an administrative grouping. Which may suggest that Kingston doesn't carry district status anymore.

You could possibly write about 'Kingston district' in a historical sense. Providing the topic meets notability guidelines.

Thanks for your submission. Please re-submit when you feel you have addressed these concerns. Cesdeva (talk) 22:05, 31 January 2019 (UTC)|u=Picallin|ns=118|reviewer=Cesdeva|reviewts=20190131210109|decliner=Cesdeva|declinets=20190131220532|ts=20190131085410}}[reply]

{{AFC comment|1=I am satisfied that the addition of the map as a source confirms the existence of the place, per WP:V. However I am not convinced that there should be a standalone article. Per WP:NPLACE, this suburb could be merged into Govan. To convince me otherwise, I would want to see more sources that show that Kingston has been written about in some depth in other publications. Otherwise, the article will only exist as a stub, serving only to prove the existence of the place. Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 14:55, 1 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

My Comments

[edit]

This draft has been submitted three times and declined twice. Rather than continuing the cycle of resubmissions, it would be more useful to discuss whether a stand-alone article is in order. The suggestions have been made to put this information into either Tradeston (but that article is itself unsourced) or Govan (ward). I am declining this draft again and suggesting that discussion be at Talk:Govan (ward).

The references are inconsistently formatted.

A previous reviewer has requested information as to whether Kingston currently has district status.

Since every other district of Glasgow seems to have its own Wiki entry (and Kingston has been missed for some reason) then surely as a minimum a Kingston article should be there as a place-holder for someone else to add to as and when. I've started it, but I don't necessarily want to research further until time (or retirement) allows.

@Robert McClenon and Picallin: I have made some further edits today and I now believe this should be a standalone article and is ready to be moved into mainspace. The source that I added as further reading shows that there's material available to expand the article. Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 16:25, 6 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Came here via WP:Scotland. I would say this draft of Kingston has a reasonable claim to inclusion. Scotland Street School, when visited in person, explains in some detail how the densely populated area was razed for development, leaving the school without a roll and the neighbourhood without an identity other than the industrial estate which is there today. This could perhaps be remarked upon more (I haven't checked if online resources are as comprehensive in their description of the area's history, but glancing at the refs in the draft it looks OK as a start), and possibly incorporate old maps which could be found at National Library of Scotland website (I have added many of these myself for context: see Gallowgate, Glasgow for one example). Similarly, the Camlachie article on the neighbourhood next to Gallowgate refers to an area which, like Kingston, is largely historical. I realise OTHERSTUFFEXISTS but it would seem remiss to have Camlachie but not Kingston. Finally, if a redirect is preferred, it should be to somewhere nearby like Kinning Park or, as has been suggested, Tradeston. Certainly not to Govan which might be the anchor for the wider area but is miles from Kingston and wouldn't help curious readers to place it correctly were they to be searching for the place. If it's likely the article would be accepted with some appropriate additions, I could make some, but I'm not going to trouble myself if it was still going to be declined. Many thanks to Robert for the great input. Can someone advise what happens now - do I need to re-submit? Thanks, Picallin
@Picallin: If you re-submit, I will accept. Once in mainspace and added to WikiProject Scotland and categories it is likely that other interested editors will start to contribute to the article. Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 10:16, 7 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
