coupla things...

[edit]

I've always seen this written (and pronounced) as Royale.

Also, why not choose either Kir or Kir Royale as the article and give the variant as part of it. Without further elucidation, e.g., origin, inventor, description etc., all this page does is force the reader to go to the Kir page to see what the "original" is. Kir Royal (cocktail)Kir Royal – Primary meaning. The only other item on the dab page is not nearly as significant as the cocktail Since there are only two items on the dab page, it can be eliminated and this is not a multi-move. --Relisted. I see a case for a merge or redirect here to the main Kir article since this article is one sentence.--67.68.29.99 (talk)! — Preceding undated comment added 04:03, 31 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know if there is enough out there to build this article up or if it should be merged, but Kir Royale is probably a more common spelling. Srnec (talk) 14:39, 31 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
The spelling is definitely 'kir royal' as 'kir' is masculin. -- Wgsimon (talk) 09:28, 8 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
That would be the French spelling. English spelling does not follow French just because the French spell it one way, the English spelling is not required to follow. Just as we spell it "chief" and not "chef" , etc. -- 70.51.202.183 (talk) 04:34, 9 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with the principal. The question in this case is weather kir royale has been assimilated into the English language or if it's a French name which is used in English and habitually spelt incorrectly. -- Wgsimon (talk) 09:36, 17 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • NOTE "Kir royal" would be the French spelling, while "Kir Royale" would be the English spelling (the "e" is an affectation of false French, since in French, there is no "e", as "kir" is masculine, and the "e" attaches to "royal" with feminine nouns. Also "royal" would be lower case due to French grammar. Thus the English term is fake French, being "Kir Royale") -- 67.70.32.20 (talk) 03:19, 7 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
