Railway History[edit]

Original text in the third paragraph included " a central junction where both the London Midland and Scottish Railway and the Great Central Railway met". This is chronologically incorrect as the LMS and GCR never existed at the same time. Also there has never been a connection between ex-LMS and ex-GC lines at Kirkby.

I have modified the text to describe (but not name) the separate junctions on the ex-Midland and ex-GC lines. More detail could be added but it ought to be in a separate section otherwise it will dominate the main page and give the impression that Kirkby was a major railway junction.
