Censorship by 216.162.217.134[edit]

216.162.217.134 keeps removing an example of a Klanton from the article. United States Senator Robert Byrd is one of the most famous members of the Klan in the history of the United States. The Democrat has written about his Klan past and he has explained how he earned various titles in the Klan such as Kleagle from organizing the Klan. His organization of the samall town of Crab Orchard, West Virginia into a Klanton is one of the most famous examples of a Klanton. It is relavant, sources and fully cited. 216.162.217.134 needs to stop removing the information. -----Keetoowah 22:32, 9 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Please. The fact that this is true does not means it has any relevance to the subject of the article, or adds anything to his article. Adding it is bias by selection, and frankly smacks of an attempt to get a cheap shot in at Robert Byrd. In the article on Drunk driving, is it appropriate to add, without any particular context, the sentence "George Bush was convicted of DUI in 1974?" It's factually correct, but no matter - it has no particular relevance to the subject of drunk driving whatsoever, and doesn't belong in that particular article. Likewise here. The proper place to talk about Robert Byrd's past is Robert Byrd, or possibly Ku Klux Klan. Here, it's simply gratuitous. --216.162.217.134 01:15, 10 October 2005 (UTC) (PS - there is not, in fact, any citation to back Byrd's activities or their significance in the article.) --216.162.217.134 01:30, 10 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Of course, it is relevant to the article. It is a great example of a Klanton. The example given just so happened to be organized by Byrd. Just because you feel the need to defend Byrd or to take out information from the article in order to minimize Byrd's activities has nothing to do with Wikipedia. How would you suggest that we place an example of a Klanton in the article??? You have not provided a alternative solution, all you have suggested is that we censor sourced, cited information about Robert Byrd's Klan activities.--Keetoowah 03:50, 10 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]
1. A Klanton is a local chapter of the KKK. 2. Byrd was in the KKK. 3. Byrd organized a local chapter. 4. Byrd 's organization was a Klanton. 5. Byrd is a well-known KKK member. 6. Byrd's Klanton is a perfect example of a Klanton.-----Keetoowah 03:55, 10 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]
