Kobbie's height is 6'0", confirmed by him and Josh Denzel on the Lions' Den show on the England YT channel, linked here Jaysingh 10 (talk) 04:14, 1 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The person being mentioned literally gets his height measured in the video, it is a reliable source. Krsctrl (talk) 11:31, 12 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
See WP:RSPYOUTUBE and WP:BLPSELFPUB. This also contradicts a reliable source. [2] CNC (talk) 11:49, 12 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ironically I believe that may have been taken from this Wikipedia article, it is clearly not up to date.. the YouTube video linked is the most recent available information from just about a month ago & you quite literally cannot argue with the person in question being visibly shown to have his height measured. Krsctrl (talk) 11:56, 12 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes you can, this is why YouTube and self-published sources are not reliable. It's irrelevant anyway, please read WP:TRUTH to understand how Wikipedia works. I otherwise highly doubt that England national team don't measure their players professionally, and simply "go to the Wikipedia article", unless you can have reliable source to back that. CNC (talk) 12:16, 12 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ah I understand now. Seeing him in action & next to 6ft players it's still clear it's outdated but I expect that can't be updated on here until his official profile is as well. Krsctrl (talk) 12:53, 12 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Done You're in luck, after an extensive search I found a reliable source confirming his height: "He has had a growth spurt this season and now stands around 6ft (182cm)." [3] CNC (talk) 13:24, 12 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Incorrect info

[edit]

He joined Manchester United at the age of six, not nine, as mentioned on the official club website as well as The New York Times. This is also mentioned by himself in his ITV Sport interview. Krsctrl (talk) 11:50, 12 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Done, but not as suggested. The sources state; "Scouted at the age of six", [4] "signed up to United’s academy aged seven", [5], and "joining United's academy at the age of nine" [6]. Thus independent events have been referenced as such. CNC (talk) 12:07, 12 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. Can I suggest that regarding the last line, rather than scouted "He first attended training sessions with" might be more accurate? Based on this quote from The New York Times article: "By that stage, Mainoo was trying out both United and City academy setups. His United connection started at six when he attended sessions put on by Manchester United Foundation at Moss Side. Dermot Clarke, a scout for the club, recognised Mainoo’s talent and, after a couple of sessions, invited him to train with United’s academy at The Cliff, the former first-team complex." The City mention could also be notable. Krsctrl (talk) 13:02, 12 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Not done I think the more relevant content is that he was scouted by United, rather than attended MUF sessions. The latter is a charity than runs sessions for kids, it's not directly related to the academy as it were. If someone else thinks it's relevant to add then I'm not opposed to it, but it certainly shouldn't read "attended training sessions with Manchester United", as that would be false, it would need to specify "attended Manchester United Foundation training sessions". Photo?

[edit]

Can someone help find a photo of Kobbie Mainoo we're allowed to use? I am not sure if we can use Fair Use from man united website.. I can't find any CC-BY photos of him, and Getty photos are like £300 each. --Stain (talk) 18:55, 6 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
