Headquarter

[edit]

KONE's headquarter is located in Munkkiniemi, Helsinki (Munkkiniemen kartano), not in Keilaniemi, Espoo. KONE Building is not their headquarter. This is in the correct way in Finnish Wikipedia page "Vaikka konsernia hallitaankin nykyisin Keilaniemestä, yhtiön pääkonttori on edelleen Munkkiniemen kartano. ". — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.248.163.178 (talk) 12:04, 14 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Source for pronunciation

[edit]

The page lists the pronunciation for KONE as /koʊneɪ/, whereas as a native Finn I'm more familiar with the pronunciation /kɔ:nɛ/ with a short o and flat e. This is also used at the end of a advertisement/video on KONE's own site: http://www.kone.com/en/company/, making that pronunciation seem like the official one to me. 82.130.45.236 (talk) 21:05, 11 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

KONE India

[edit]

KONE's Presence in India dates back to 1984, when it formed a joint venture called Beacon KONE with Best & Crompton Engineering Ltd., a large and diversified company based in Chennai. Beacon Kone opened a factory in 1987 near chennai. In 1992 KONE purchased Best & Crompton's interest in Beacon KONE, and KONE india became a 100% subsidiary of KONE Corporation. KONE India has regional offices in five major cities in India with 30 branches throughout the country. KONE India also covers the markets of Nepal, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. KONE India has obtained ISO 9001:2000 Quality certification for its factory at Chennai and for four major branches. It is in the process of extending ISO certification to rest of the branches. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 15.219.201.70 (talk) 17:30, 19 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Material copied from company's history page

[edit]

Whoever posted the material straight from Kone Inhouse magazine, please note that it is obviously not a good article for an encyclopedia without editing, but a little cropping helped already. Please comment and continue the same. Wiki-turso 09:55, 12 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The history section looks like a copy of the company's history page with some light editing. As Wiki-turso says, it's not in good encyclopedic style, and probably violates copyright, too. AJK (talk) 15:55, 31 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I couldn't find any copyvios even though the source was given. Minimac (talk) 12:55, 12 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Capitalize trademarks, as with proper names

[edit]

Trademarks are capitalized as with proper names according to Wikipedia:Manual of Style (trademarks). Therefore, use Kone instead of KONE in the article. This in spite of the fact that KONE Corporation is the "official" name of the corporation. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Siipikarja (talkcontribs) 10:55, 16 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

For clarity I've noted in the lead that the "official" typeset is KONE, as is done at Time (magazine), Yellow Tail (wine), Kiss (band), etc. Gr1st (talk) 17:56, 16 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Mitsubishi

[edit]

Wasn't Mitsubishi also fined in the cartel in the 2000s? Source: https://www.nytimes.com/2007/02/21/business/worldbusiness/21iht-cartel.4677255.html — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hkbusfan (talkcontribs) 03:03, 15 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Important Acquisitions Missing

[edit]

Kone made two acquisitions which are missing from the article. In 1980 it absorbed Aufzug-Bauer (from Augsburg, Germany), and in 1985 it acquired Italian elevator manufacturing company SABIEM from Bologna (see https://elevation.fandom.com/wiki/Sabiem ). However, no mention of those acquisitions appear in the English version of the article, contrary to versions in other languages. --AVM (talk) 00:01, 9 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

TaxiSpace?

[edit]

The article says that Kone § Kone TaxiSpace and TaxiDisc is a thing, but I can't seem to find anything about it other than here: https://elevatorcommunity.fandom.com/wiki/Dial_Boy_Green which makes it seem (to me) like an April Fools joke? Etnguyen03 (talk) 05:19, 12 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I removed that section. --JAAqqO (talk) 11:49, 13 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
