Requested move

[edit]
The following discussion is an archived discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was moved to Konni, India. There's no consensus here to move to Konni, Kerala, nor is there an overriding policy for Indian place names that would help. However, the parenthetical disambiguator is discouraged for place names, so I'm removing that as a small improvement. If naming conventions are subsequently changed to prefer the "city, state" standard, then it should be moved to Konni, Kerala to reflect the wider consensus. I've proposed a move to Konni, Kerala because this is the standard form of name - state rather than country, and comma rather than brackets for a geographical disambiguation. There was previously a duplicate article at Konni, Kerela, a wrongly-spelled title, but I have made that into a redirect to this title. PamD (talk) 22:33, 16 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose. There's no Konni, Madhya Pradesh etc..or Konni, (any other state of India). The proper article name is Konni, India. See Kochi, India. KensplanetTC 08:22, 20 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with Kensplanet. I had requested this in the WikiPoject Kerala Discussion page. Konni, India is the broader term. ChrysalSnowlax (talk) 05:26, 21 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Support My preference is for Konni, Kerala because that is the most parsimonious and, IMO, narrower is preferable to broader. (I couldn't find a policy on place names for India, is there one?) --Regent's Park (Boating Lake) 16:23, 21 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
