Agent of influence[edit]

He's described as "Soviet intelligence officer". Was he KGB or GRU? Judging by his recruitment of Houghton, I'd say GRU. Can somebody clarify & include? Trekphiler 07:58, 18 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

He definitely wasn't an "agent of influence". The text says the Soviet foreign intelligence service, which links to the First Chief Directorate of the KGB. I've added in KGB for clarity. There was nothing to stop a KGB officer collecting military intelligence.--Jack Upland (talk) 05:35, 31 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Death[edit]

The information about his death seems to be suggesting that he was murdered by the KGB. There is very little evidence for this.--Jack Upland (talk) 00:49, 1 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Pardon?[edit]

Although he is listed as a recipient of a Royal Pardon, there is nothing about this in the article. A quick internet search did not find anything either. Does anyone have any info? PhilUK (talk) 23:04, 10 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I guess the pardon would be necessary to release him from prison as part of the exchange.--Jack Upland (talk) 00:10, 11 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
It's common for prisoners to be released early - e.g. Chris Huhne. A Royal Pardon usually implies there may have been a miscarriage of justice and is very rare these days (see the Wikipedia article). I will dig deeper. PhilUK (talk) 16:59, 15 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
That's parole - early release for good behaviour. Molody was not released on parole.--Jack Upland (talk) 02:16, 16 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
