I removed the 'expand' template. It was placed here before the article was expanded from one sentence to its current state. It would be nice if someone with more knowledge of the topic could review the links in the article. --JoanneB 20:11, 16 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Confusion about Kru and Krumen

[edit]

There seems to be much confusion about the terms Kru and Krumen. Apparently the Kru are a large group in the interior of Liberia. The Krumen are said by Ethnologue to be a subgroup fo the Grebo. Other sources say that the Krumen descend from Krus who were enlisted in british ships in previous centuries. Would please someone who knows best clear up the confusion? Thanks... --Jorge Stolfi (talk) 07:45, 10 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I just read a 1942 book entitled "Samuel Morris" from a Christian publisher, I added it to the reference list. The story reads like a legend so I came to this site. The book seems to corroborate the idea that Kru were employed by the British in some way for the shipping industry. Samuel Morris's story is interesting, I had wondered about the reference to cannibalism and wondered how prevalent that was in Samuel's (Kaboo's) day.
