February 2020[edit]

I have de-prodded this article... The prodding editor listed "Nothing in this article establishes the notability of its subject." as the reason for the prod, but according to WP:GEOLAND, "Named natural features are often notable, provided information beyond statistics and coordinates is known to exist. This includes mountains, lakes, streams, islands, etc.". A very quick google search shows several mentions of this geographic location not only on fishing websites, but also in several books regarding the history of the region... - Adolphus79 (talk) 06:48, 18 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Noted, Adolphus79. However, often is not the same as always. If the Krum Kill really is notable, the article should be edited to reflect that notability. What is it notable for? Does it really merit its own article, or could it instead be mentioned in a larger article on bodies of water in New York (just thinking out loud; not sure if such an article even exists). As a long-term resident of New York's Capital District, I couldn't tell you a single thing about the Krum Kill besides the fact that it has a street named after it. So I am a bit dubious, but open to persuasion. SunCrow (talk) 15:05, 18 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
The same could be said about tiny unincorporated communities... I have been working on articles for all the tiny little communities here in Ohio, and as a life-long resident here I am constantly surprised how little I knew about some of them... but as soon as I do a google search and start working on a new article, some of them actually have very interesting histories... 200 years is a lot of time for stuff to happen (and be forgotten)...
I believe that if it is important enough to be marked on a map, it was important enough to be remembered, and (personal opinion) any geographic locations with a GNIS entry and several (useful, quality) listings on google and google books passes notability... and just because the article has not been fully fleshed out does not mean the location is not notable enough for inclusion... - Adolphus79 (talk) 19:59, 18 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
