Merger proposal

[edit]

I propose that Boroughs of Lévis, Quebec be merged into this article, as the information in Boroughs of Lévis, Quebec does warrant a stand alone article and could easily be merged into a section of Lévis, Quebec. "Pepper" @ 20:24, 29 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It seemed appropriate to have a "List of..." -type article that sorts as the first member of the boroughs category, by analogy to the practice elsewhere in Wikipedia. The article serves that purpose, and I don't think there's any harm if it's a bit of a stub. Mergers are usually called for where there is potential for substantial volume of duplicated content; that is not the case here. -- P.T. Aufrette (talk) 22:38, 29 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Could you give some other examples, as I've honestly never run into that before. This is what I was thinking: the list of boroughs is directly related to the mother article, yet if the list of boroughs was originally a section in Lévis, Quebec, it would not have been big enough to warrant a split into a separate article, therefore it should be a section. Examples are that Geology of Kansas is a seperate page than Kansas, yet Economy of Kansas is just a section as it does not have enough information to be its own article. Other examples would be, for instance, List of parish municipalities in Quebec and Category:Parish municipalities in Quebec, or Boroughs of Montreal and Category:Boroughs of Montreal, or List of Presidents of the United States and Category:Presidents of the United States. Very often, categories contain not just articles belonging to that category, which sort in the usual alphabetical way, but also an article about the category topic, which is given a "*" or " " (blank) sorting order. -- P.T. Yes, I see what you mean and know what you're talking about. However, looking at List of boroughs in Quebec, the existing articles have at least six boroughs and are more extensive lists/articles. In Grenville-sur-la Rouge, the boroughs are talked about in the History section. Longueuil's boroughs are mentioned at different parts throughout the article. I don't see why the information in Boroughs of Lévis should have its own article. "Pepper" @ 19:10, 30 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
