Factual errors
[edit]This article has quite a few factual errors. I'm going to do my best to clean some of them up, but we should check the regulations to make sure everything is up-to-date. Hwonder talk contribs 22:14, 19 June 2006 (UTC)
- Ok, I've made an initial pass, but I'm not really up to it right now. I think the problem with this article is that in confuses L-1 status with the L-1 visa. Aliens can change status to L-1 from another legal status while in the US and never need an L-1 visa. Because status is conferred by DHS and visas issued by DoS, there is a pretty big difference in the two. I deleted references that visas must be issued in country of citizenship, which is untrue. I also tried to seperate out what consular officers do versus USCIS, but it still reads too technical.
- I also commented this paragraph "This often leads to difficulties for applicants, because it means leaving their adopted home in the United States for as long as it takes the embassy to issue their new visa. In particularly busy times of year, this has been known to take several weeks or more. In case visa renewal is denied, the applicant might have trouble returning to the US to finalize their personal and business interests there." as it borders on POV and doesn't seem relevant to discussions of what the L-1 is. - Opening section contains errors still. Spouses of L1 status persons do not *require* work authorization. They have an automatic right to work without applying for an EAD. https://secure.ssa.gov/apps10/poms.nsf/lnx/0100203500!opendocument Sec.C.1pr2 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.220.231.130 (talk) 01:01, 27 June 2008 (UTC)
- I've corrected the body about L2 spouse holders and EAD's. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.220.231.130 (talk) 16:26, 4 March 2009 (UTC)
3 or 5 years
[edit]It is a little confusing, at first it says the visa is normally good for 3 years, than it says 7 years for management and 5 years for general workers.--kelapstick (talk) 18:37, 28 January 2009 (UTC)
The source doesnt cite the main empoyee base of the company. I am sure it was just made up cause Accenture isnt NOT mainly based in India. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.154.254.82 (talk) 18:47, 19 March 2009 (UTC)

Furthermore, it does not clearly mentions, what is the minimum duration a person can apply for L1 if he is workingn for some company X. Like If I am working with Company X for last 2 months, then am I eligible for L1. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.44.136.103 (talk) 05:27, 31 October 2009 (UTC)
Why no "controversy" section?
[edit]There is considerable controversy surrounding the issue of continued issuance of visas to import foreign labor during the current record high unemployment. This is certainly relevant and deserves mention. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.17.163.111 (talk) 19:24, 7 September 2010 (UTC)
Non-immigrant visa?
[edit]This article refers to L1 visa as "non-immigrant visa" while Dual intent and United States visas describe all L visas as dual intent visas. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.66.220.190 (talk) 19:03, 29 March 2011 (UTC)
