why does this page even exist? 115.189.90.143 (talk) 04:11, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Nominate it for deletion then. Artem S. Tashkinov (talk) 11:22, 9 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Questionable desicion[edit]

Pretty much all the articles about Intel chipsets have chipsets as links, not as references, @Hairy Dude Not sure why you've edited just one of more than a dozen and called it quits. Not sure what's the justification for "eliminate external links (use refs)". These are not references, these are product pages. AFAIK "references" are worthy external sources, e.g. news websites. The Intel ARK website is not a reference. Artem S. Tashkinov (talk) 14:18, 14 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • See WP:EL: "With rare exceptions, external links should not be used in the body of an article." Do you contend that these links are among these "rare exceptions", rather than being simply primary sources to be cited as normal? Making them external links eliminates a lot of useful information such as the website, source, access date, and potentially archive URL – adding these improves the encyclopedia. "Source" versus "reference" is a distinction without a difference. I only edited one article because it's the one I happened to be looking at at the time. Editing them all takes a lot of time. Hairy Dude (talk) 12:55, 16 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
OK, let it be. Direct links just look better and all the information that references provide is interesting mainly for e.g. news articles. These are product pages which rarely change and whose latest content is the most relevant anyways. I'm not a fan of this WP policy to be honest because if you go along with it, all the references should be replaced with web archive links to actually preserve the referenced data. What good references do if web sites are redesigned left and right, content changes, and links get broken all the time? Artem S. Tashkinov (talk) 21:18, 16 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Wouldn't it make more sense to move the chipset info to the PCH page?[edit]

This should the page for the LGA1700 socket, the chipset information should be in a separate page with a link from this page. Digital27 (talk) 09:00, 8 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

You're welcome to rework almost two dozen pages with Intel sockets. Meanwhile Intel sockets and chipsets are (inter)locked hard. @Digital27 Artem S. Tashkinov (talk) 11:21, 9 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It seems there more important changes to make. @Artem S. Tashkinov Digital27 (talk) 11:25, 9 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Speaking of PCHs: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Intel_chipsets @Digital27 Artem S. Tashkinov (talk) 11:28, 9 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Some duplication, but it also links back to this page. I think I'll choose some other pages to improve first. Thanks! @Artem S. Tashkinov Digital27 (talk) 11:31, 9 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
