62 or 63 rebuilds
[edit]There is a comment in the article text, "... 62 rebuilds (63 according to the LNWR Society) were rebuilt ...". I think I can explain the discrepancy. There were 62 locos rebuilt from Class A to Class D, these being the remainder of Class A (of which 111 were built) following the rebuilding of 15 to Class C and 34 to Class C1 (15+34+62=111). There were 63 locos in Class D - the odd one was prototype no. 2524, built as 2-cyl simple in 1892, rebuilt with large boiler in 1906 and assigned to Class D. --Redrose64 (talk) 15:54, 10 April 2012 (UTC)
