Notability?

With all due respect to this talented young gentleman, I fail to see how he meets Wikipedia's standards for sufficient notability. Based on his performance as a player so far, it seems quite likely that he will in the future attain requisite notability, however it is inappropriate to justify an article on the basis of predicted future performance. He has a famous parent, and two famous brothers. He is also a phenomenal player, but equally phenomenal players in his age group do not have articles.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:387:5:803::c0 (talk)

While his accomplishments alone may not warrant notability, he has received extensive media coverage from a wide variety of sources and his article is already well referenced. Other players of his age might be as or more talented, but they have not gotten quite the coverage as him. TempleM (talk) 22:11, 25 March 2017 (UTC)
Most of the articles he's mentioned in is because his father is grooming him to be a reality TV show star. He's not even graduated from high school yet, and has only played high school basketball at this point. That is not notable. -- Hellmark (talk) 20:20, 20 November 2017 (UTC)

Does anybody think LaMelo will still play for UCLA?

I mean with the shoe deal and LiAngelo kicked out and both of them going to probably go to Europe to play basketball, I think honestly I Should take down the UCLA Commitment. — Preceding unsigned comment added by KENGRIFFEY24 (talkcontribs) 04:00, 5 December 2017 (UTC)

He's still committed, and the article already mentions potential upcoming issues with his shoe. It should remain as is until Ball or NCAA backs out.—Bagumba (talk) 05:13, 5 December 2017 (UTC)

Taking a look now. I will make straigthforward coyedits as I go (please correct me if I accidentally change the meaning) and jot questions below:

  • Ball is known as an exceptionally popular but polarizing basketball figure - I think I'd drop the "exceptionally" as it sounds a bit over the top...
  • He has maintained a strong presence in social media, most notably with over 3.4 million followers on Instagram. - let facts speak for themselves. I'd trim this section to, "Known as a popular but polarizing basketball figure, Ball has over 3.4 million followers on Instagram. "
  • He is one of the most publicized high school-aged basketball players with a signature shoe by his father's company Big Baller Brand and a role on the Facebook reality show Ball in the Family. - a comma after "players"..?
  • ''The brand was inspired by LaMelo and his brothers Lonzo and LiAngelo - I'd remove this line, it's sort of obvious and sort of superfluous.
  • .... called the Melo Ball 1 (MB1), which will be available in late 2017. - needs correct tense. "was to be available.." or something.

Overall it's pretty comprehensive. The main risk is that parts might veer into promotional-sounding territory, but I think I have found all examples of that....Cas Liber (talk · contribs) 12:45, 23 January 2018 (UTC)

  • I have fixed all the issues you brought up. TempleM (talk) 22:00, 23 January 2018 (UTC)
  • Actually...did the MB1 have an actual release date? That would be good to add if available. Otherwise it just looks like it was updated by changing the tense when more info should be availalbe
    • Can't find a date, but I have tweaked it to make it sound better. TempleM (talk) 23:02, 24 January 2018 (UTC)
  • The same thing with Ball in the Family - I presume it has been aired. A line or two from very recent sources talking about that (especially with LaMelo mentioned) would be good
    • I have added more and made changes to that section. TempleM (talk) 23:02, 24 January 2018 (UTC)
      • It'be good to have a bit more on LaMelo in the show but if there is nothing to add, then that's no problem. Cas Liber (talk · contribs) 23:36, 24 January 2018 (UTC)
        • I can't seem to find anything else notable about him that relates to the show. TempleM (talk) 23:51, 24 January 2018 (UTC)
  • For the record, Earwigs' score is inflated due to (attributed) quotes, so that's ok.

Formatting question

Any suggestions on how to format this page? He has a very unconventional career path, moving from high school to pro back to high school. Should info about his high school career be split up across the page as it is now (with the "high school career" section covering Chino Hills years and a "return to high school" section covering SPIRE years)?. Or should all info about his high school career be included in the same section? Coachtoes (talk) 21:57, 10 November 2018 (UTC)

Lamelo Ball’s Height

Lamelo Ball is NOT 6’5. He is taller than both his brothers Lonzo and LiAngelo. Lonzo is 6’6 and Gelo is 6’5. Lamelo Ball is 6’7 Youactlikeicare (talk) 09:51, 16 January 2019 (UTC)
