[edit]Good start. Anyone have more on the history of the restaurant ? It was owned by Horcher during the war. Presumably Horcher fled to Madrid after the war leaving the Tour d'Argent sold our unsold ? AlTalal (talk) 18:48, 19 December 2009 (UTC)

Passing on myths
[edit]Did no one notice that the opening information about the restaurant's founding was entirely undocumented? In fact, it is very probable that this is a nineteenth century restaurant which at some point (probably towards the end of that century) began to claim a pedigree going back to 1582. A pedigree a remarkable number of sources have uncritically repeated since. (I would take other claims with a grain of salt as well.) 69.228.37.86 (talk) 01:47, 3 May 2011 (UTC)
- It is cited to the restaurant's own claims, which in this context is regarded as more of a reliable source than your views. --PalaceGuard008 (Talk) 13:41, 24 January 2013 (UTC)
- Note that the restaurant has now removed ALL claims about its history (except for leaving, without comment, its supposed founding date).

About 2/3 of the page is now dedicated to 'debunking' the aforementioned myth. Is this not completely excessive? The restaurant is notable in itself... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.10.255.16 (talk) 01:56, 4 September 2014 (UTC)
- The restaurant itself has put a great deal of focus on its supposed early origins, a claim which continues to be passed on uncritically by otherwise serious sources (and by Wikipedia itself in a number of other languages). So there is good reason to document the evidence against the claim, especially since that evidence also provides a wider context for the area and the other well-known restaurants of earlier times.
- To the degree that the restaurant has other claims to fame (and it does), would not the solution be to expand on those, rather than try to reduce evidence against the restaurant's own widely reported claims?69.228.37.250 (talk) 18:13, 16 November 2014 (UTC)

Salvador Dali
[edit]I have removed this...:
- Salvador Dali attributes some design to the restaurant's less notable offerings. [1]
...for the following reasons:
- It is incomprehensible
- The cited source looks like a WP:COPYVIO
- The cited source is just a recipe from the Tour d'Argent. What notability or relevance to Dali it has is unclear.
