Reorganisation[edit]

Hi, I noticed the Ladbrokes article is not very structured (it’s more like a list of facts added one after the other) and I would like to improve it and add more details according to this plan:

1. The Group: Ladbrokes plc: Origins , History (business sells, merges, etc)
2. The brands
2.1. Ladbrokes
2.2. Ladbrokes.com
2.3. Ladbrokes Casino
2.4. Vernons

Can I take the liberty of making this big reorganisation? All the facts that are in the current article will be in the new version, but I’d like the article to flow better. And of course I would be happy with everybody contributing to the changes! - Thanks for your help - Punditbet 11:02, 19 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Suggested merge[edit]

This article should stay unmerged. As I understand it, Ladbrokes is a subsidary of the Hilton group. It is famous enough to have it's own article. If you consider the fact that the Hilton Group will be split next year, it is probably better to kep the Ladbrokes material separate since that will be the name of what remains, basically Ladbrokes. Agreed. Wait and see what happens on the names and possible takeover, and then respond. At a minimum the Hilton Group will remain an important incident in the history of two major businesses, and it should be kept separate for that reason. Carina22 09:08, 2 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Should marketing paragraph be removed?[edit]

The following paragraph gives no real information about the company, but does clearly fulfill a role in marketing Ladbrokes. Since WP policy forbids use in marketing, forbids advertising, and requires notability, should this paragraph be removed from the article?

"The standard ODDS ON! card, can be at the owners request upgraded to a full account card which can then be used to access and place bets via the Ladbrokes.com website. This can be done in shop and money transferred onto the card used online, customers can the withdraw money in shop or attach their bank details to the card and have funds transferred to personal bank accounts."

Activities in Spain[edit]

There appear to be two mutually exclusive statements about its activities in Spain:

In September 2013, Ladbrokes plans to launch in Spain.

Which is followed (in text, not chronological, order) by:

Since 2007 Ladbrokes operates in Spain through the brand Sportium. This is the result of a joint venture with the Spanish operator Cirsa.

This needs clarification, perhaps an expansion on the first sentence, as well as chronological rearrangement. Cloptonson (talk) 09:29, 14 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

robbery[edit]

in my view the following content added today is not encyclopedic; it is random crime and we are WP:NOTNEWS

Incidents

In May 2013, the manager of the Ladbrokes shop in Morden, Andrew Iacovou, was murdered while working alone in the shop by customer Shafique Ahmad Aarij.[1]
