To author[edit]

To the author of this article: I want to propose a deletion of Lainie Friedman Ross' wikipedia page because Lainie Friedman Ross herself contacted me directly asking that it be taken down immediately due to inaccurate information about her. She did not ask for a page to be made, and she said it clearly is misinformed. For one, Dr. Ross does not work at the Washington Post. To the author of this page, I work as her assistant and she expressed vehemently that I work on getting it taken down as soon as possible. Her reputation as a doctor is compromised due to this article. I apologize for asking that you take it down when you worked on creating it, but it does affect her and my job. Thanks.

Proposed Deletion from Lainie Ross herself[edit]

@Sbchristianlowe: First of all, I would like to apologize if the reference from the International New York Times mentioned her as the Washington Post employee as well as the University of Chicago. I removed that info. However, we as Wikipedians are not allowed to remove the articles completely. If something is biased we can fix it, but if you wanted it to be removed you need to contact WP:VRT.--Mishae (talk) 23:32, 16 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
As a separate note, I would like to ask for an input from: @Enigmaman:, @Lugia2453:, @Widr: with special thanks to @Denisarona:, to explain what so inaccurate about the article besides the fishy the Washington Post, the info which I got from here? Like, I will even provide a quote:

Dr. Lainie Friedman Ross, a University of Chicago bioethicist and physician, in The Washington Post

:Or its the International New York Times who got miss informed by her??? Will welcome any suggestions or explanations.--Mishae (talk) 23:47, 16 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Huh? I didn't say anything about the accuracy of the article. Enigmamsg 04:14, 17 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Well, non of you did, but user @Sbchristianlowe: want this article to be removed even though I worked on it for 3 days. My question is, in this case, what should I do to prevent this article from being deleted, because we have some kind of COI going on. I really wished the subject would have been dead as soon as possible, but that would violate NPA rule, plus she have a lot to go. On the other hand she already became notable...--Mishae (talk) 04:47, 17 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
It cannot be deleted based on the Wikipedia policies. It is not a copyright violation, it is not defamation, and the subject appears to be notable. The wishes of the individual do not matter. For example, if Merkel, the German chancellor, said she did not want an article about her on Wikipedia, it would not matter. What determines whether a BLP stays is primarily notability. You asked everyone who edited the article to explain what is so inaccurate about the article. The only person who said it was inaccurate was sbchristianlowe. Laundry list of publications[edit]

Why is this encyclopedic? I see things this way. Biosthmors (talk) pls notify me (i.e. {{U}}) while signing a reply, thx 16:36, 1 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Another person says the list is not encyclopedic. They see value in a curated list. I don't. If someone wants to take the time to find the three to five most highly cited papers of Ross, feel free. I'd rather just link to a google scholar profile if one exists. It's too laborious a task for us Wikipedians, in my opinion. We have too many BLPs, and traditional encyclopedias don't make a point of this, as far as I am aware. Biosthmors (talk) pls notify me (i.e. {{U}}) while signing a reply, thx 16:40, 1 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Biosthmors: The problem is is that there is no Google scholar index for her. If you can find one I will appreciate it.--Mishae (talk) 23:41, 1 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I think Ross would have to ask for google scholar to create one for her. Biosthmors (talk) pls notify me (i.e. {{U}}) while signing a reply, thx 00:21, 2 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Biosthmors: Will PubMed as an external link be O.K?--Mishae (talk) 00:28, 2 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I think that's a good idea, thanks. I went ahead and added it. Best. Biosthmors (talk) pls notify me (i.e. {{U}}) while signing a reply, thx 01:13, 2 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Out of date? Plagiarism?[edit]

I notice that the paragraph that describes her career uses a source from 2006, though it is written in the present tense. Also, the wording could be either plagiarism or too close paraphrasing: "In addition to publishing more than 60 original peer-reviewed articles in major medical, philosophical and legal journals, Ross has written two single-authored books: Children, Families and Health Care Decision Making (Oxford University Press, 1998) and Children in Medical Research: Access Versus Protection (Oxford University Press, 2006). She is on the editorial boards of Theoretical Medicine and Bioethics, the Journal of Clinical Ethics, and Perspectives in Biology and Medicine." Dealing with these major prose issues is much more important than trying to pick out the three most cited papers she has published, in my opinion. @Biosthmors: Now, lets discuss this issue... Thanks for the external link by the way. Hmm, where to begin... I might have put in present tense in error, as for close paraphrasing, yes, I have such issues. If its not hard can you show me how this article should look like?--Mishae (talk) 03:36, 2 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
You might see this instructional material for an example. Biosthmors (talk) pls notify me (i.e. {{U}}) while signing a reply, thx 04:27, 2 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
