Year the Arena Was Built

[edit]

Lakeview Arena could not have been built in 1974. We moved from Marquette in April of that year, and the Marquette Iron Rangers had already been playing there. I definitely went to two games in the brand-new Lakeview Arena before we moved. I'm thinking that maybe Lakeview was built and opened in 1973, in time for the 73-74 season. I think the Palestra was torn down in 1973, as well. There oughtta be an article on that great piece of history! Maybe I'll write it...Goeverywhere 04:08, 22 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

And just that quickly, I stand corrected. I will stick to my near certainty that Lakeview was built in 1973, because who'd be buidling an arena in the U.P. in the middle of winter. But clearly, they were putting the finishing touches on it into 1974. Here's a link to the last game (we think): http://www.marquetteironrangers.com/lastgame.htm Goeverywhere 04:20, 22 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
