Excessive ELs

[edit]

Per WP:NOTLINK, Wiki is not a link repository and per WP:ELPOINTS, ELs should be kept to a minimum. The proper references the article has already establish Menon's notability, and if more links are needed for additional info, that info should be inserted into the article body and the link be included as a proper ref and footnote. Also, please do not do wholesale reverts when disagreeing with one point.  Mbinebri  talk ← 19:07, 13 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Mention of her in ABC news and other valid media sources should be there. Did you look at each link before hand, or just do a casual wide spread elimination of all of them? Dream Focus 19:13, 13 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I looked at each, and it was clear these links are not proper ELs but instead the result of the EL section being treated as a "dump" for superfluous reference links. As I previously said, if these links contain important info in establishing the subject's notability, as you say, they should be included as proper refs and footnotes alongside the info they report on.  Mbinebri  talk ← 19:20, 13 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Kindly read the links as I just did, before trying to destroy them. They all list information about her, which anyone interested in her, would want to find. That's the purpose of external links. To find more information about the article subject. Dream Focus 00:08, 14 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Haha, it's funny that you just repeat this need to believe I didn't read the links in the absence of anything policy-based to say.  Mbinebri  talk ← 01:07, 14 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
You think that removing links to news stories about her improves the article? If you really want to help, work the links into the article, don't just cull them. You're removing information, and to what end? Making the article look nicer but be less informative? Fences&Windows 01:22, 14 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
