Speech variaties?[edit]
Langauge contact is not only about speech variaties....sign languages have it too. I think the definition has to be changed. I won't do it cos I don't really know how Jenncasper (talk) 20:23, 15 June 2008 (UTC)
Uncited materials from lead[edit]
I've removed the following claims from the lead. They don't seem to be reflected in the body of the article, so they don't belong in the lead anyway, and they have remained uncited for some years, which may indicate WP:OR. If they deserve a place in the article, it is with citations and in the main text. Chiswick Chap (talk) 13:16, 7 September 2014 (UTC)

diffusion[edit]
- The borrowing of vocabulary items is a common process, also called lexical diffusion. This reflects the fact that the entire vocabulary of a language constitutes a lexicon, with individual vocabulary items or words constituting being lexical item.
Is This of the second sentence only the use of the term lexical? Otherwise I don't see how a definition can be a cause of a process. —Tamfang (talk) 03:48, 10 February 2024 (UTC)
