Virginia massacre-related edits?

Is LL getting copious abuse at the moment due to his views on the Virginia massacre (I notice he was a "talking disembodied voice" on the Beeb, giving the standard "problem isn't too many guns, it's too few" line)? Or is it just because he's such a fine human being in general? At any rate, I've semi-protected the page in the hopes this will blow over. Alai 20:50, 17 April 2007 (UTC)

Relevancy of Harter incident

There's an edit war going on since April 29th where this entry under Controversial remarks is repeatedly added and deleted via reversion:

On September 16, 2005 Bret A. Harter, 38, of Portland pleaded guilty to one count of misdemeanor phone harassment for the telephone threats he made against Larson and his family. Harter was sentenced to 30 days in jail and probation. Harter also stalked Larson at his home, according to police reports. The investigation was conducted by the Vancouver, Washington Police Dept. and resulted in a permanent restraining order issued by a judge against the defendant.

This seems relevant to the article because:

• It appears to be well sourced
• The article's subject voluntarily participated
• It provides context and insight about the subject, including the depth to which Larson affects listeners

I suspect boggienights is Mr. Harter or one of Mr Harter's acquaintances. I cant see why anyone else would object so strongly to this obviously appropriate section remaining in the article.. --Kvuo 13:35, 4 May 2007 (UTC)

Reference of Remark

Is there any proof that he's actually licensed to carry a consealed gun in Oregon? I would figure that it would be in Washington since he lives there. One I personally know him, AND yes Him and I along with many oregonians are Licenced, 2 The Multnomah county licence has full reciprocity in Washington State, sic Clark County, on the other side of the River. Where he moved to a more secure location from his Boat house on The columbia River cause Of fear people would assault him his wife or his Step daughter by taking a boat onto the Moorings where his house boat was.

I'm sure he's gotten the Clark County cc permit, through the similar process that is used in Oregons counties. AS he has many times on his programme said he's an advocate of CC permits, got in trouble cause he took it to his Step Daughters school, under that 1000 foot rule with schools and guns. (A legal challenge which was dropped because he would have won and set a prescedent to all Schools in Oregon, which they didn't want)

Subtle change in meaning

It's interesting that moving one word in this sentence:

"Larson's act would most likely be prosecuted if the state found evidence that Larson or his family were not in danger of serious physical injury or death from an attacker."

and

"Larson's act would most likely not be prosecuted if the state found evidence that Larson or his family were in danger of serious physical injury or death from an attacker."

seems to subtly change the intended spin of the message. Besides which, this statement is not backed up with a reference. Any thoughts on the most NPOV way to convey the info about Larson's threats and (if encyclopedic and verifiable) the possible repercussions of same? Katr67 16:56, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

Picapole's recent reversion

I made a series of copy edits today that were uncontroversial, as far as I can tell, including removing a link that no longer backed up the fact it was citing. If there is some reason why these changes needed to be reverted, I would love to hear about it. I don't think my edits changed the meaning of the article in any way. A few of us are keeping a close eye on the article due to recent unbalanced POV additions. I remember seeing the addition of "third wife" and wondered how I would check it, but thought it very unlikely to be harmful and assumed good faith. —EncMstr 03:10, 28 August 2007 (UTC)

Vandalism

I was browsing this page when I saw this stement in the political views section. "He enjoys sex with Asian Hookers." Yes, this article is a frequent target of vandalism. Thank you for looking after it. Those of us watching it do so intermittently, and sometimes vandalism persists for a few minutes before it is detected and removed. The longest lapse over the last several weeks is about two minutes. As an anonymous user, you would tend see an older cached version. Registering a wikipedia account will prevent that, as wikimedia has to render the page for each registered user's view to apply custom settings. —EncMstr 03:47, 18 October 2007 (UTC)

A private e-mail is not a reliable source. I chose not to revert the changes based on this source because they don't seem particularly controversial, but be aware that per our biographies of living persons guidelines, unsourced claims are subject to removal at any time, and that this article is largely lacking sources. I know for a fact that Mark Weber, director of the Holocaust Denial organzation Institute for Historical Review has appeared on Lars Larson's radio show. See [2].
