[edit]I've moved this to the English name. This is in line with our naming policies, and reflects a simple google search:
- "quartier latin"is cool but not to cool for school
paris site:.co.uk - 950 hits
- "latin quarter" paris site:.co.uk - 27,000 hits
In general, English names are preferred, especially when there's an established tradition of its use. Stevage 10:02, 12 August 2006 (UTC)
Renaming
[edit]Wasn't the Quarter renamed for a while during the 60s protests, something to do with Vietnam?

university?
[edit]"Known for its lively atmosphere and bistros, the Latin Quarter is the home to a number of higher education establishments besides the university itself, "
What university is it talking about? --DarthBinky (talk) 18:39, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
I have modified the sentence about Latin was the international language for learning. Latin was the language of learning in Europe. In the developed world which was Middle East and North Africa at that time, the lingua franca for sciences was Arabic. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 188.29.165.98 (talk) 15:08, 8 May 2015 (UTC)
