Just a heads-up; given that there are so many genera, the approach of trying to list all of them on one page is simply NOT going to be practical. This family needs to be subdivided pretty finely (often to tribes) before one can start putting generic lists. The present page also does not reflect the last 15 years' worth of changes to the classification, and bears little resemblance to what coleopterists are using today, so that's also going to need to be changed. I'll try to get to this fairly soon. Dyanega 16:20, 3 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I started moving the genera over to subfamily pages. I'm not a layout person, so I have no idea why the section looks so ugly now.--Hatch68 23:07, 27 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Tarsal formula

[edit]
"Leaf beetles are recognizable by their tarsal formula"

This isn't very helpful... What is their tarsal formula?

I think this article could do with a bit more text (description, etc.). IronChris | (talk) 23:21, 26 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Removed text from Chrysochus cobaltinus

[edit]

This text, formerly at Chrysochus cobaltinus, looks like it's about the Chrysomelidae. If any of the information in it can be sourced, I imagine it could be rewritten to go here:

The elytra are usually with more or less evident epipleura, changing within the varying species within the Chrysomelidae. It rarely has an exposing pygidium. The body is oval, although the ventral is not prominently convex.
Characterization is difficult, family members are diverse in form and have no distinctive characters in common. Some subfamilies (Eumolpinae) are distinctive in appearance or characters. Many species within this family are similar to the long-horned beetle, but each antenna is nearly always half the body length. Eyes are not notched. Tarsi 5-5-5, 4th segment is small. They can range in size from 1–16 millimetres (0.04–0.63 in), but rarely over 12 mm (0.5 in).

Translated text inserted

I inserted text from the German Wikipedia article "Blattkäfer" in the following version, in which the text first appeared: https://de.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Blattk%C3%A4fer&oldid=5222928.
