Photo of the Roaches

[edit]

That photo of Leek and the Roaches in the background is cracking good photo.

How about something about the double sunset as well.

Leek Memorial

[edit]

I noticed that the Architecture & Development section contains no information on the Leek War Memorial. I find this strange, as it is ranked (unless I am mistaken) as one of the highest in England. I do not profess to being an expert on the subject, but if anyone has any knowlage about the memorial, please add it on. I will try to find some more information about it on leekonline.com. The Nicholson War Memorial has its own page: http://www.nicholsonmemorial.org.uk/ - If someone would like to add info on it then go ahead. LeekTownTK (talk) 16:53, 1 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I've added a link to a new article I've created, about the memorial. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 14:34, 9 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Crime rate in Leek???

[edit]

I was wondering what the crime rate was like in Leek??? (I am thinking about taking a job offer there) I would probably live near the centre of town. Am I going to get mugged??? I mean, I see that two and three bedroom terraced houses can be had for under £100,000 but I know that up north you get hassled/mugged in the bad sections of town (whereas in London, even if you live in Brixton, you are not going to get mugged (unless you are involved in a drug transaction)). What's it like in Leek??? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.129.158.40 (talk) 18:59, 21 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

As with any town some areas are worse than others, having said that, I am from the South East and lived in Leek for almost two years without any problems. Crime stats for the area are contained on government websites. You could try: http://www.neighbourhood.statistics.gov.uk/dissemination/ as a starting point.Percepeters (talk) 11:58, 29 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Leek isn't especially crime ridden and most trouble is of the 'drunken yobs on a Saturday night' variety. There are a couple of rough council estates where you'd want to take care, but even those are pretty safe compared with big city estates. The population is mostly white working class with some gentrification over the last decade. --Ef80 (talk) 16:47, 4 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Economy

[edit]

I have now updated the economy page with citations to support the heretofore unreferenced material. Can anyone who has an issue with these references please post any problems on this page. Thank you.Percepeters (talk) 12:26, 29 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sports section edit

[edit]

Leek Hockey Club is located on Macclesfield Road in Leek and not Mill Street as described in the article.
