List, dab, redirect?[edit]

I moved the list of treatises to List of treatises, since it was not a disambiguation of the article title "Treatise". Since the dictionary definition wasn't enough for an article, I've redirected this to Tract (literature). It could be made into a separate article by expanding it, but an earlier comment now on Talk:List of treatises gave me the impression that expansion was unlikely. The article that could have been disambiguated (but wasn't on the list), Treatise (music), is linked from a hatnote on the Tract (literature) article. -- JHunterJ 12:47, 27 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure that I agree with this redirect. The tract article, which privileges religious tracts, does not really address the genre of the "treatise." Locke's Two Treatises of Government and Some Thoughts Concerning Education, for example, while treatises, are not the kinds of documents addressed in this article, but whenever someone links "treatise" in those articles, users are sent here. Awadewit, I agree. Tract and treatise are not the same thing. The redirect should be removed. --RayBirks 00:07, 28 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Do you know how to do that? I am unfamiliar with the process. Awadewit 00:34, 28 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The redirect can just be edited here and replaced with an article about treatise instead, but the article should be an encyclopedic entry about treatise (similar in structure to the tract article) and not just a list of treatises. Or, if no article should be at Treatise until that article can be written, it could be nominated at WP:RfD -- JHunterJ 12:31, 30 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I remerged the list of treatises into the treatise article per request. Yanksta x 00:10, 8 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
