Ownership[edit]

Notably missing is any info on the ownership of the club. I'll get round to it myself in due time no doubt.Farrtj (talk) 00:58, 29 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Longest article[edit]

i'm happy to say leicester's article is the longest of any g premiership club!

Good work to whoever did the work. The fixtures/results needs a little clean up though. Cvene64 09:39, 20 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Split match details[edit]

Maybe alot of this stuff can go into 2006-07 Leicester Tigers season? This page is getting really really crowded. Goldman07 09:03, 20 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. This would be a good move to save size. As long as other people agree to the value of having a specific page each season for this. This may only appeal to Tigers fans such as me! This also brings to mind the possibility of a results history. Maybe too detailed? MonkeyMumford 11:34, 20 April 2007 (UTC) ps. that big list of player could do with a tidy up.[reply]
    • Well heaps of NFL, baseball, football and other sports have specific pages, so it is acceptable to do so season-by-season. I think we should split the 06-07 results, the current squad, in/outs into the season page. The current squad can also be replicated on the this also. And yeah, the list of players is a bit of a mess, specifically the captains one, which doesnt make a whole lot of sense. I think once we clear out alot of these results and stuff people will be able to expand the history/stadium info more in this article, and add important stuff like colours/logo info as well. What do you mean by results history? Like a table of GP standings or something? Thanks. Goldman07 13:30, 21 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Kit Update[edit]

Hello... I'm looking to update the kit designs. Tigers have released a new home shirt, and I've slightly updated the arms of the away kit to reflect the current version. Can someone advise how I update this section of the site, as I'm confused how it works! Thanks Rangemean

Fair use rationale for Image:Leicester tigers badge.png[edit]

Image:Leicester tigers badge.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Vandalism[edit]

Almost two months and thirty revisions later I've reverted vandalism by 83.67.127.224 to the opening paragraph of the Early Years section. Tigers fans please keep an eye out for vandalism. Zexpe (talk) 22:43, 11 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Martin Corry: Lions Captain[edit]

In the first Lions game against The All Blacks, after O'Driscoll went off Corry became the Captain for the rest of that game, so surely Corry should have Lions captain with his England Captaincy notice The C of E (talk) 20:17, 14 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Notable internationals[edit]

Currently this is a list of all former internationals. I think it should stay that way although the title could perhaps be changed to just "Former International Players"? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 109.249.108.39 (talk) 20:19, 23 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Kit update 13/14[edit]

Could someone with the skills and knowledge, update the kit? It's the beginning of the season soon, and I don't know how to update the kits to this season's:

Creating a Leicester Tigers history page in its own right.[edit]

Just wondering what the consensus is for creating a page dedicated to the history of the club. Examples of the use of linking to dedicated history pages include: - Manchester United: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manchester_United_F.C.#Early_years_.281878.E2.80.931945.29 - Chelsea FC: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chelsea_F.C.#History - England Rugby: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/England_national_rugby_union_team#History

I feel there is too much content for it to remain as part of the original page. A more concise version would suffice on the original page, and if more information is required, the user can click on a 'History of Leicester Tigers' link. Such a page could also include the current 'Season Summary' section.

What are people's thoughts? TGB13 (talk) 16:47, 17 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Agree, was thinking of doing this myself soon. I started writing the section and it got away from me a bit once I hit the age of competitions post 70s.

Would leave the season summary where it is though. Skeene88 (talk) 13:06, 19 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Sounds good. Although having a full history of every season seems a little excessive? It is regarding the Tigers' history, so would therefore suit a history page quite well. A summary of the seasons would suffice on the main page, e.g. stating the play-offs, finals and wins etc. Seems a little unnecessary to have every season documented, when the most notable may be more useful. Happy to move ahead with the the creation of a history page though! TGB13 (talk) 21:29, 19 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I think the "season summary table" is quite a neat little table that includes a lot of information at a glance. How long should the new written summary history be? I think we want details on all the titles won, foundation and first game, keep the bit on use of letters or possible move to new sub section where information on colours & nickname currently is, and some of the other details but not sure how much? Skeene88 (talk) 19:49, 20 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I don't enjoy doing, but I feel it's best to compare to the football pages, especially as Tigers' history is comparable to Manchester United. They have a kind of potted history of the club, probably just go for major successes and changes. I agree with your suggestions of colours and names.

Would probably include: merger, first game at Welford Rd, info on Mr Crumbie, Baabaas fixture, use of letters, restructuring to more traditional structure, centenary, league rugby, ABC club, 90s trophies, and then the dominance from then.

Also select legends from each decade maybe? Similar to the one line where it talks about Richards, Wells and Underwood's debuts in the 80s. Potentially include statements covering a few legends from each decade in and around the above?

Just some suggestions from me! TGB13 (talk) 21:48, 20 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, so the current history section will be copied wholesale into a new History of Leicester Tigers article. I'm working on the new abridged version for the main article in my Sandbox [1] if you want to have a look.

Skeene88 (talk) 13:19, 21 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I would split the article as per WP:SPLIT -- the page there has good instructions on how best to perform it. It's important to make sure that it's done correctly so that any edits can be properly attributed as per the CC licence. If performed wrong it'll need to be fixed otherwise it'll be a licence violation. -- Shudde talk 13:16, 22 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Looks great! Good start! TGB13 (talk) 21:36, 23 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Okay done per WP:SPLIT to History of Leicester Tigers and significantly shortened history section. It could probably do with another trim, particularly the "competition era" post -70s but I've done my bit of butchery! anyone else is more than welcome to trim it even more.Skeene88 (talk) 20:13, 25 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Leicester Tigers navibox?[edit]

With the new history article coming off the main one I was thinking Tigers should have their own navibox like Template:Leicester_City_F.C. and numerous other. Below is my first go. The statistics and two season articles are probably more of an aspiration at this point but I feel having a box to link the other articles would be good.

Skeene88 (talk) 20:19, 25 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I was thinking of this, think it's a great idea! Any reason why it can't be in place now? TGB13 (talk) 21:20, 1 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I don't like too many red links and wanted to get the statistics article written first!Skeene88 (talk) 07:33, 2 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Notable Former Players[edit]

Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Particularly the list element?

It is a feature on all Premiership Rugby club pages but as the tag says there is no clear inclusion/exclusion criteria. If we want this to be a list of all internationals who have ever played for the club then arguably it should be its own page (or category?) and would certainly be too long for the main article. I propose deleting the list of players and leaving the other information as there are clear inclusion/exclusion criteria for them.Skeene88 (talk) 20:08, 25 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with that suggestion to cut the main list of notable players. Otherwise, it is only going to continue to grow unchecked over time. A lengthy list of notable players has about as much encyclopedic value as a list of notable coaches, notable seasons, etc. there are so many of them, and every single Leicester player is arguably notable in some fashion. CUA 27 (talk) 20:26, 25 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I've done this now. Skeene88 (talk) 14:54, 27 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Duplicative sections?[edit]

The history section contains a sub-section called "Premiership success (2004–present)". A few sections later we have another sub-section that focuses on the Premiership run from 2005-2013. They seem to both cover the same topic and same time frame. Should we combine these two duplicative sections into one? CUA 27 (talk) 02:22, 28 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I think you could just delete the whole passage, unless you want to harvest some of the references. I think this section was added before the season summary was in there and when the history section was very light. Perhaps the original intention was to have a section like this for European Rugby too? If we do delete the whole thing are we in danger of swinging the other way though and not providing enough information on an area people may want to look at in isolation? For instance I'd quite like a simple narrative of the play offs for Saracens F.C. as I forget who they have played and when, though that whole page is a bit of a mess. Skeene88 (talk) 11:24, 29 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
As per my last edit, it could be trimmed a lot but the basics of who was played and when could be kept as a narrative to read alongside the summary table?Skeene88 (talk) 11:29, 29 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Squad status[edit]

Freddie Steward is listed in the Development squad but is playing for the first team most weeks, surely he should be moved to the first team squad section? Jimmy Skitz's Answer Machine 15:17, 28 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Squad is as listed on Tigers website, this is an encyclopaedia we just report what the sources say. And the sources list him in the development squad!Skeene88 (talk) 17:46, 28 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
