British phrasing?[edit]

As an American, I have trouble with this sentence from the article:

He also fitted in becoming Moderator of the URC (1978–1979), preaching at Balmoral, and continued the prolific writing career that established him as one of the most respected and significant theologians of the Twentieth Century.

In particular, "fitted in becoming" doesn't seem correct to me. I presume it sounds fine to the British ear, but could someone rephrase to avoid confusion by non-British readers? (Also, I'd like to see more parallelism between "becoming", "preaching", and "continuing".) --Flex (talk|contribs) 20:48, 1 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Tidied up a wee bit! PMJ 14:51, 8 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've just read the article on Lesslie Newbigin. I can't help noticing that he's called a "bishop", and that the photograph of him shows his episcopal purple. Yet the article consistently says he's a minister of the Church of Scotland, which it refers to as "presbyterian". That's quite true of the Church of Scotland, but "presbyterian" means the church is not governed by bishops. If he was in the Church of Scotland, he can't be a bishop. Does the author in fact mean the Scottish Episcopal Church? Peter Wilton (talk) 14:43, 28 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
