opposition to ISIS, et al

[edit]

I guess what I meant to ask is: why is this group opponents with ISIS? they are both enemies of the Assad regime, and both Sunni.

There is no explanation of any history or context that puts these guys in the context of this whole war, other than they are Aleppo-based.

I can't tell why their alliances are so pitch perfectly aligned with US interests and they coalesced like 5 months ago. WHO ARE THEY REALLY?? or in the parlance of Wikipedia, if they are one of like a hundred groups running around that region, taking over some town or another, losing it back later, WHY ARE THEY NOTABLE?

thank you. Tangy 303 Mamet Sauce (talk) 05:59, 21 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

ISIS considers these Sunni groups to be apostates because of their ties to the international community and their refusal to pledge allegiance to their caliphate.
They are notable because Aleppo is the largest city in Syria, not some town, and the group is a coalition of the "largest armed groups in northern Syria". The links in the article to the different groups involved gives substantial detail on who they are. Gazkthul (talk) 07:12, 21 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
OK, fine. but you sound pro-them. and I feel like they could morph as fast as ISIS does into something else & I can't tell why they'd be any better at running a state than ISIS or Assad. ISIS is horrific, but idk,, like- this whole thing makes me miss the Saddam regime.
Have fun with your encyclopedia article. I hope all the good Western-backed rebels kill all the bad rebels. Because all the insurgent-fighting and state-building the US did in Iraq worked out so well. Tangy 303 Mamet Sauce (talk) 03:28, 22 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

This wiki is terrible. It appears edited by the pro-Assad guy who is inappropriately using this talk page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:247:C201:B488:F8FC:1EAC:6523:7904 (talk) 21:29, 11 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
