in the section of the article that reads,"anthropologically accurate” description of the Cheyenne Indians., who is being quoted? The phrase “anthropologically accurate” is in quotes, but there is no source for it. The next footnote refers to the section of his book on the Taos Revolt, but in any case Garrard would hardly say that about his own writing. The phrase "anthropologically accurate" comes from the Gale (footnote one). So it should have the same reference. I'll insert it.
I'd be interested in your comments on the purpose of the Wikipedia practice of combining footnotes from the same source -- and inserting several lines full of symbols into the footnote text on the edit page. Why not just write a straightforward footnote: Author, title of work, publisher, date, page no. and, if appropriate, webpage address and date of access. That is the way footnotes in books are done and seems to be more straightforward and easier to edit and understand. Smallchief (talk) 00:39, 12 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
