Dubious facts

[edit]

I added some dubious tags:

The militia did not line up to oppose the regulars, just to make a political statement in parade formation. They were outnumbered 700 to 80, that would be suicide.

I believe they were not minutemen but a training band

I also have nitpicks about whether this was actually a battle, or if casualties from the Boston Massacre would count as the first.

Shouldn't this be on the Lexington and Concord page, if you are going to dispute these statements? A "training band?" --JC1008 (talk) 14:24, 27 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The Lexington militia was technically called a training band (the name is derived from 17th century colonial defense organizations), and did not have a minute company as such, so no, they weren't "minutemen". I have tempered the disputed language. Magic♪piano 18:41, 10 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
