Name change[edit]

The Planetary society announced that they changed the name of their solar sail CubeSats: Statement: "Many series of spacecraft have used the convention of program name followed by a sequential number". Therefore:

  • The test mission: LightSail A = LightSail 1
  • Their upcoming March 2016 spacecraft launch is now LightSail-2.

Source: [1]. I will wait a couple of days to do the change just in case I misunderstood their new nomenclature. Cheers, BatteryIncluded (talk) 02:03, 1 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Why not just call it LightSail? It talks about the whole series of spacecraft, not just LightSail 2, and there apparently isn't anything else that covers the set of missions. Nerfer (talk) 20:59, 1 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

LightSail 2LightSail – This article already covers the entirety of the LightSail project, including LightSail 1. The current name does not accurately describe the contents of this article. XYZt (talk  |  contribs) – 05:41, 14 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Attitude control[edit]

Any info out there on how the spacecraft controls its orientation (eg. "controlled sailing")? Rowan Forest (talk) 15:50, 5 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
