History Additions?[edit]

Should we include a mention of Samuel de Champlain in the Lindsay, Ontario article? It's believed that the first white man in the region was Samuel de Champlain, who navigated the chain of lakes in 1615. I think there is a memorial to Samuel de Champlain in the nearby community of Fenelon Falls - near the locks.

The Mississaugas were originally in this region. It is rumoured that the Huron nation was in the region, but there is no definitive proof of this.

The first person in Lindsay was not William Purdy (famous for his mill), but a man by the name of Patrick O'Connell who settled Lot 7, Concession 2 near the Scugog River in 1825. I am debating making a note of this in the article.

A lot of updating needs to be done on this article, and its unfortunate that there is nobody to work on them as there are many excellent books covering the history in detail. I think the info on Champlain, personally, belongs in the Kawartha Lakes article, in an Early history section - ʄɭoʏɗiaɲ τ ¢

I might work on updating the articles as I have access to almost every book written on the region. Mr Languages (talk) 20:28, 30 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
