Unlikely election attempts[edit]

In 1972 he was elected to Belfast City Council in a by-election, representing the predominantly Catholic Lower Falls,[2] although this victory was only achieved because all the Irish nationalist and republican parties refused to nominate candidates, in protest at the introduction of internment.[3] Mason had been elected unopposed as no other unionist candidates had stood.

Didn't he also run for election somewhere down in Cork at onetime ? 90.220.107.78 (talk) 11:24, 23 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
