Fair use rationale for Image:Nieves.jpg[edit]

Image:Nieves.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Conflated biography?[edit]

In this edit, Arich12345 has claimed that this page conflates the biographies of two different people. Many of the sources of the original page are not available and I have not yet had time to work through the archives, but the edit left an unacceptable page that was overly promotional, insufficiently sourced, and largely a copyright violation of one of the sources. I invite Arich12345 to discuss the matter here so we can try to straighten out the matter. Which facts relate to Lisette Nieves (I) and which to Lisette Nieves (II)? Are both people notable? If so, should we create two articles? If not, which of the two people actually merits inclusion? WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 15:29, 15 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello,
Thank you for your consideration and help. I am the executive assistant for Lisette Nieves. She is the president of The FUND for New York City. As mentioned above, this page currently has the biography content of two different people. I am new to Wikipedia editing so I am learning how to make the necessary changes. I was tasked with updating this information to reflect correctly on behalf of my boss, Lisette. I would like to use a source that is directly from our companies website (https://www.fcny.org/) which includes her up to date biography. We would like to input the biography content onto her Wikipedia page so that it is displaying correct information. I would like to create two articles in order to separate these two individuals. My boss is a notable businesswoman, professor at NYU, published author, president of a large company and works alongside the government. It is important that she has her own page displaying correct information. I truly appreciate your time and effort. Thank you, Alyson Rich Arich12345 (talk) 17:11, 15 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Arich12345: First, as Ms Nieves' executive assistant, you have a conflict of interest regarding this article, and should not continue to edit it. You can make edit requests here at this talk page and I or another uninvolved editor will assess the requests and act on them appropriately. Second, you have not pointed out what facts in the present article are incorrect (and presumably related to a different person). If you request the removal of certain facts here at this talk page, we can assess and remove as appropriate. Third, you may not copy Ms Nieves' biography from the FCNY page, as that content is copyrighted and not suitable to be released under the CC BY-SA 3.0 license that governs Wikipedia content. Also, that material is not neutral enough for inclusion here. So, make your requests here for the changes you'd like to see, and we'll see what we can do. Thank you for your reply. Ok. I understand. I am happy to provide the information in order tto request edits here. As mentioned, I am learning how make edits on wikipedia. So, I do appreciate your guidance.
Here is the current incorrect information:
  • 'is an American academic and non-profit administrator who is the founder of "Atrevete Latino Youth, Inc.", an organization which focused on the educational and leadership training of young Latinos."
  • "When Nieves returned to New York, she went to work for Puerto Rican Association of Community Affairs (PRACA) as coordinator of "¡MUEVETE!" (Move Yourself!). On May 14, 2001, Nieves and several other coordinators decided to develop a new independent organization, "¡Atrevete!" (I Dare You). The organization operated out of a main office located in the Bronx for several years. Under her leadership, the organization's main focus was to educate and to develop the leadership skills of the Latino youth, starting in New York and Boston. ATREVETE! stopped operating in 2010 and the group decided to refocus their energies on rebuilding ¡MUEVETE! as an independent organization. She is also the board chair of ¡MUEVETE!
  • Nieves continued to further her education with the intention of developing her skills to assist in the transformation of Atrevete into an independent non-profit organization.. In April 2002, the first Annual Atrevete Latino Youth Conference was held in Boston.
  • Nieves is the director of the Betances Community Center for BronxWorks, funded by the Department of Youth and Community Development Cornerstone Initiative. In 2005, she was named one of the most distinguished Latinas by the New York Spanish language newspaper El Diario/La Prensa.
  • On July 30, 2021, Nieves was nominated as a member of the board of directors of AmeriCorps."
I will reply with an updated biography that would be appropriate to add that is not copied from any website. Thank you! Arich12345 (talk) 20:59, 15 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
https://cc-fy.org/people/lisette-nieves/ Here is a link to the Lisette Nieves that my boss is being mixed up with.. These are two different people but there wikipedia pages are merged as one because they have the same name. I hope this helps show that they each need their own page. Thank you again for your time and assistance. Arich12345 (talk) 21:07, 15 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Arich12345: I've formatted your list as a bullet list to make each individual point easier to read. I'll try to evaluate the sources and work out the separation of the biographies. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 21:48, 15 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Dr. Lisette Nieves is my boss. Which is why I just provided information that should be added to her wikipedia page. Thank you. Arich12345 (talk) 01:33, 16 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@WikiDan61
Dr. Lisette Nieves is my boss. She is the President of the FUND FOR NYC, a published author and a Clinical Professor at NYU. Please see her image and biography - https://www.fcny.org/person/lisette-nieves/
There is another women named Lisette Nieves that works for CCFY- Community Connections For Youth in Bronx, NY. Please see her image and biography - https://cc-fy.org/people/lisette-nieves/
These two women's wikipedia pages have been merged and mixed together by mistake most likely because they have the same name, both work/reside in NYC and work in similar fields.
My objection is for Dr. Lisette Nieves (my boss) to have her own Wikipedia page with correct biography information. Thank you. Arich12345 (talk) 18:38, 16 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hi,
I am hoping you were able to consider the changes we discussed? Thank you! Arich12345 (talk) 15:31, 21 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Arich12345: So, is Dr. Lisette Nieves your boss, or is Dr. Lisette Nieves the other person in this conflated biography? WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 00:22, 16 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Arich12345: I have not had enough time to fully evaluate the sources you've provided, but I have no objection to you updating the biography as you have suggested. Please remember to use neutral language, and to provide citations as needed (such as for the list of Nieves' board affiliations). Remember that any facts that you add that are not properly cited are subject to removal. I do not believe that the other Lisette Nieves yet merits her own Wikipedia page, so I would not recommend starting one for her. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 17:29, 21 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Specific text to be removed: Is an American academic and non-profit administrator who is the founder of "Atrevete Latino Youth, Inc.", an organization which focused on the educational and leadership training of young Latinos. Nieves continued to further her education with the intention of developing her skills to assist in the transformation of Atrevete into an independent non-profit organization.. In April 2002, the first Annual Atrevete Latino Youth Conference was held in Boston.
Nieves is the director of the Betances Community Center for BronxWorks, funded by the Department of Youth and Community Development Cornerstone Initiative. In 2005, she was named one of the most distinguished Latinas by the New York Spanish language newspaper El Diario/La Prensa.
  • Reason for the change: This information regarding her career and occupation is incorrect. Lisette's image, education, date of birth is correct but her career path and current occupation listed after education is not described accurately. This Lisette Nieves was never associated with "Atrevete Latino Youth, Inc.", Puerto Rican Association of Community Affairs (PRACA), Betances Community Center for BronxWorks.
  • References supporting change: I am including supporting links that list her corrrect bio with the matching head shot image. https://www.jff.org/about/staff/lisette-nieves/

I came here because this page was nominated for deletion, and while looking for sources I realized there was some confusion between two different people. The page as I have edited is for Lisette Nieves, graduate of Brooklyn College, University of Oxford, Princeton, and University of Pennsylvania. The 'other' Lisette Nieves is a graduate of Wesleyan and Harvard. I have marked the edit request as done. DaffodilOcean (talk) 18:24, 28 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you very much for your assistance. We appreciate your approach of resolving the confusion of two different people with the same name. The page is much better and up to date. Can you please tell me how we could include an up to date image on Lisette Nieves's page? Thank you again marking the edit request done. Have a great day. 47.197.17.216 (talk) 18:42, 15 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
