AMD Family[edit]

Wold be nice if the family name (6, 15, 16 or 17) of each chip where specified.

Why new article?[edit]

Exactly what is the POINT of this list? To clip the information listed on the AMD article? Or you have some more insights on the matter of these microarchitectures? There are similar parts on AMD article, why rewrite it your own style and put it here? These information are totally redundant and people who read the AMD article and got interested in the microarchitecture will click the links listed on the corresponding subsections, why should there be an individual list about them with the SAME information as the main article, doing the same function and make things more complicated? This page gives a ahort description of each microarchitecture while List of AMD microprocessors concentrates more on the various processor brands. Also, that page does not really talk about the microarchitectures at all. It just has the brands, the code names, and approximate release dates. -- Imperator3733 23:38, 31 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Points for improvement[edit]

There are several points of style that need immediate attention

A "List of ..." article is a list, not a comparision. Someone has started a comparison table at the bottom of this list. This would belong in a separate "Comparison of ..." article. see Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style/Lists#Purposes of lists
Excessive description text detracts from the purpose of the list. Descriptions should be used for differentiation and identification so that the reader can select the proper main article.
A proper lead section needs to be drafted that describes the purpose and scope of the list, as required by Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style/Lists#Lead section or paragraph.
The focus of the list should be to refer readers to other articles.
The use of AMD internal names + family name looks poor when run together. is a bit difficult to follow.
Burying the common name in copious explanation text detracts from the list's goal of identification.
use of the " - " character does not conform to Wikipedia list style Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Lists#List styles

Contested deletion[edit]

This article should not be speedy deleted as being recently created, having no relevant page history and duplicating an existing English Wikipedia topic, because the page was created back in October 2007 (which can in no way be considered "recent") and has an edit history consisting of numerous edits from approximately 30 registered users and 24 anonymous users. Although there may be some duplication of content with List of AMD microprocessors, considering the longevity of this article, a merge would be appropriate to consider, but not a speedy delete. Further more, the focus of the two articles is different, with this article talking more about the underlying architecture, and List of AMD microprocessors talking about the specific processors created using that architecture. -- Imperator3733 (talk) 00:35, 22 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

5x86 ?[edit]

Where is the old AMD 5x86 ? It used to be on the marked in the nineties before K5.

llano is the same as the architecture of the phenoms and athlons (k10/10h). the APUs skipped bulldozer entirely. it's complicated, but it appears that llano was a family unto itself. I agree, Llano is not Bulldozer. All AMD technical documents are organized by family. You won't find any codenames in AMD technical documents (otherwise it would be easy). IMHO Llano is an APU codename like e.g. Ontario, not a core/architecture codename (like e.g. Bobcat).

Crappy article[edit]

Please compare {{Intel processors}} with {{AMD processors}}, then checkout {{Intel processor roadmap}} and then the Wikipedia article Intel Tick-Tock. Compared to that, this article, currently called "List of AMD CPU microarchitectures" is just crap. User:ScotXW^t@lk 10:55, 23 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
