Years of release[edit]

Would anyone of your guys object to an enhancement to the article that lists the years of release? In my book, I'm sure people will mainly look for recent titles, but currently find these amongst 14-year-old titles like WET - The Sexy Empire, which - most probably due to their incompatibility with current Windows OS versions - will most probably only be played by an ever decreasing minority (DOSBox, etc.) -andy 77.191.208.88 (talk) 19:53, 22 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hatred[edit]

Stating that the player character aims to perform a "genocide crusade" without additional context is misleading. WP's own article on genocide describes it as "the systematic destruction of all or a significant part of a racial, ethnic, religious or national group." May not have been rated by ESRB, no source. Apparently they self-rated at adult only. Can someone remove this until we are sure it has actually been rated by the ESRB? 2.29.249.153

Why is there suddenly a concerted effort to censor Hatred from this list? Is there any source claiming this? The ESRB icons are trademarks of the ESRB, and I'm sure that they would have gone after them, much like Wartune, if they had fraudulently rated their game. Manhunt 2 and Thrill Kill[edit]

Both these games are said to be the "first" to receive the AO rating due to violence rather than sexual content, however the distinction between them is that Manhunt was actually released whereas Thrill Kill was not. Should this distinction be made more clearly in the notes?

Manhunt's notes section could write: "It is the first AO-rated game to receive the rating due to violence rather than sexual content and that has been released <optional>, unlike Thrill Kill</optional.>" With maybe an anchor link to the Thrill Kill entry on the page. Manhunt 2[edit]

In accordance to the article, it's so confusing whether or not the game actually came out with the AO rating. It doesnt really make sense for it to be listed in both the "Games released with an AO rating" and "Games that received, but were not released with an AO rating". I am aware that the game technically and eventually came out in its uncensored form, but out of these two lists you should just pick one Second Skin (talk) 22:06, 23 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know, it's a special case, for the reasons you stated. There are 2 versions of the game. The original 2007 release, which has an M rating and the 2009 uncut release which retains the AO rating. I think the way the article currently is captures this information in the best way possible especially since the 2009 version includes (uncut version) next to the title. Seduce Me 2015?[edit]

Hello, I've been doing some research into the topic of AO games and I'm confused as to why Seduce Me is listed under a 2015 release, since all sources I've seen, including the one cited on the page, state it came out in 2013 and was rated by the ESRB in 2013. Replying to my own comment as I think the Seduce Me from No Reply Games was confused with Seduce Me the Otome from Seraphim Games which released in 2015. These are not the same game. Because of this I'm correcting the article. Antixesis (talk) 00:58, 30 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Outlast 2 and Agony AO rating[edit]

I'm finding it difficult to verify whether these games actually ever received an AO rating from the ESRB or if they simply just removed content to avoid an AO rating. If you check the ESRB website for the other games in the list, like Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas or Fahrenheit, you can find the original AO listing for the game as the oldest entry, with subsequent re-rated versions having the M rating. Neither Agony or Outlast 2 shows up like this with any AO rating. Many journalism websites, including the sources cited on this page, seem to just regurgitate the information that they 'were edited to receive an M rating' but that is not the same as receiving an AO rating and then editing the game to receive an M rating. I think that if these games never actually received this rating they should not be included on the page. Antixesis (talk) 02:19, 30 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
