Former Cast Members Section

I find this section a bit redundant of the List of All My Children characters page. I mean if we're gonna have this section this this page I think then it would just be a morn organized copy of the List of All My Children characters page. I think it should be deleted and this page should reflect the way other cast member pages are setup. --Yllianos (talk) 13:40, 15 June 2009 (UTC)

Is this page really necessary anymore?

As it stands, we have a fairly comprehensive List of All My Children characters that provides virtually all of the information included here and then some. In fact, the only information that would be lost is when certain cast members passed away, which, in my opinion, isn't appropriate for a discussion of All My Children and can also be found by simply accessing a deceased cast member's Wikipedia page. The rest of the page serves absolutely no purpose that wouldn't be fulfilled by a more complete List of All My Children characters page. 2601:3C3:C201:8240:A07F:B7F4:C4F6:E6D7 (talk) 08:55, 28 December 2016 (UTC)

– The following articles are all list articles which are inconsistent with both most the other articles in their parent category - Category:Lists of actors by soap opera television series and with Wikipedia:Naming conventions (television)#List articles, which all examples of list articles show the same format - "List of <TV program> <subject>". Some are also inconsistent with themselves, with one article being titled Days of Our Lives cast members and another List of previous Days of Our Lives cast members (also General Hospital cast members / List of previous General Hospital cast members; The Young and the Restless cast members / List of previous The Young and the Restless cast members). Gonnym (talk) 20:42, 1 December 2018 (UTC)

If someone comes to Wikipedia and wants to look up All My Children's cast, they're going to type "all my children cast..." Not "list of all my children cast."YorkRealist (talk) 04:10, 3 December 2018 (UTC)
Please post your comment at the end as it makes the discussion harder to follow. If your issue is with "List of" then you should raise that issue in an RfC as 125k+ articles use this style and is part of the de facto community consensus. --Gonnym (talk) 14:23, 3 December 2018 (UTC)
Or how about I post my comment exactly where I posted it so it's underneath the comment I was responding to? And how about I post my problem with "List of" right here too? Y'know... Since whether or not to use "List of" is EXACTLY why this conversation was started in the first place!GringoQueen (talk) 14:43, 3 December 2018 (UTC)
Because comments should be listed in chronological order. Note also, this is a socker – see: Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Cebr1979. --IJBall (contribstalk) 15:35, 3 December 2018 (UTC)
Asked and answered – that's exactly what redirects are for, and All My Children cast members will still exist to aid readers looking for this article. --IJBall (contribstalk) 15:35, 3 December 2018 (UTC)

Deceased cast members

I removed the deceased cast members section as all of the cast members were already in the main cast section List, so I thought it was unnecessary to have them. DaniloDaysOfOurLives (talk) 03:26, 6 April 2021 (UTC)

What you think is unnecessary shall not reflect the pages content. And no, all of them was not in the main cast list. I just checked. This discussion comes every once and a while on the soap opera cast members pages. Someone thinks it's unneccessary and removes it. And perhaps it stays removed for a few months but sooner or later someone always adds it back in so appearantly I'm not the only one who think the section is interesting. After all it has been there for several years and no one has complained of it, until now.DrKilleMoff (talk) 10:23, 6 April 2021 (UTC)

What is a bit annoying is that I have spent the past several months working on this page and you only step in when I remove it?? Anyway, I checked that all the cast members were there and moved the ones that weren't, but I will check again. Also I have been on Wikipedia for a while and I know how Wikipedia "works"?? I am 100% up for discussing it – I would have gladly discussed it, but the way you have spoken to me and acted superior to me has honestly really upset me and I don't think it's fair at all DaniloDaysOfOurLives (talk) 12:39, 6 April 2021 (UTC)

A section for dead cast members is extremely unnecessary. What does the fact that they're dead have to do with their tenure on this soap? Even if they died whilst appearing on the soap, that should be mentioned on their character article/section. The linking of the section also violates MOS:OL. – DarkGlow12:50, 6 April 2021 (UTC)
It has nothing to do with this list and give it so many years and every cast member will be dead so it's totally pointless. Exactly as DarkGlow says, if an actor's death is relevant, it's mentioned in the character article, not here. — 🌼📽️AnemoneProjectors💬 13:28, 6 April 2021 (UTC)

Hey, I just checked and all of the cast members in the deceased list are in the main list – I made sure to move all cast members here before I originally removed the section, mainly [[1]] – I wouldn't just remove information. Also, the 2 cast members who weren't on the list were added to the past cast list after it was reinstated – which is another reason why I think the deceased list is stressful, as information can be missed if it isn't listed on both DaniloDaysOfOurLives (talk) 13:54, 6 April 2021 (UTC)

DaniloDaysofOurLives, Excuse me? Acted superior? All I said was that we do not remove entire sections without discussing it first and reaching consensus which you did. And then you removed it again, once again without reaching consensus or discussing it. As I have said. I'm ok with removing it if consensus is reached to do so but it has been done before on other pages like this and been added back sooner or later so I wouldn't be surprised if it happens here too. And if you can't take criticism for your edits without being upset then perhaps you shoul not be editing at all. I checked today and Gil Rogers was not in the main cast list. Also one thing worth to take into consideration is that not all cast members has their own page.DrKilleMoff (talk) 14:37, 6 April 2021 (UTC)

The reason Gil Rogers was not on the list was because he was added recently after I had removed it, and the reason I removed it again was because it had been added back without any consensus, so I thought I was doing what should be done. DaniloDaysOfOurLives (talk) 15:55, 6 April 2021 (UTC)

It shouldn't have been removed in the first place without consensus. That's why I wrote "discuss first remove later". DrKilleMoff (talk) 16:57, 6 April 2021 (UTC)

Well as of right now, by 3-1, it seems that the section is not necessary. I'll leave it a few more days before any consensus is reached. – DarkGlow14:16, 7 April 2021 (UTC)

Deceased cast members

Hello. I'm starting a discussion to remove the "deceased cast members" section on this article and articles alike. Firstly, the section is trivia; a cast member being dead is not related to them appearing on this series. Even if they died while appearing on the series, that should be mentioned on their character/actor article, not here. Secondly, the section is unsourced. We have a responsibility to provide sources for contentious information, and date of death is certainly contentious. That being said, regardless of if an editor sourced every single death, it would still be trivia... Thirdly, linking actors numerous times is overlink. In conclusion, every cast member will be dead one day. How is that related to this article? – DarkGlow08:23, 8 July 2021 (UTC)

The link for Ruth Warrick's character should probably be https://doyouremember.com/142382/remembering-ruth-warrick-all-my-children instead of the url that leads to a British fashion designer. Celiabro (talk) 22:01, 13 June 2023 (UTC)
