Scope of List

[edit]

It seems like this list, even if incomplete, could become unbelievably large. I would suggest adding a new row so that all versions of the same model occupy the same line. So there would be one line for the Samsung Galaxy s 1-9 rather than nine separate lines.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Barkeep49 (talkcontribs) 23:16, 9 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I disagree, those are different devices which have 4 different column information (model, release date, android version at release and ref) so lumping them all together serves nothing. On another related issue, @Maxtremus: could you explain what your scope is? You chose the title of "smartphones" yet wrote "devices" in the lead. That's a big difference. --Gonnym (talk) 22:13, 10 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Why not make different sub sections which contains devices made by a particular company?

Such as all of Samsung's devices under one column, then all of One plus' devices

That would be easy for people to view. The main idea of wikipedia is to share knowledge and INFORMATION. If the information is presented in such format, then no one would be interested.

Today is 17 March, I will begin changing the structuring of this page from 19 March CaptainGKPrime (talk) 10:10, 17 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Because the devices have separate sections by letter it is not possible to sort the entire list by categories such as release date, for example, to see all devices released in 2011. Since we can already sort by alphabetical regardless, why are they not combined into a single section? April 1, 2021.

column device codenames

[edit]

Would it be feasible to incorporate device codenames as e.g. an extra column? Device codenames are unique to every device. — Preceding unsigned comment added by SebastianWagner2 (talkcontribs) 16:24, 8 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

How many Android devices are there on this article?

Tablets, TVs, Smartwatches, PCs, and others

[edit]

Can we expand the scope of this article to all android devices and not just phones? 204.100.235.131 (talk) 17:12, 23 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Expand the scope

[edit]

Can we expand the scope of the article to include tablets, pc, smart tv/tv box, console, iot, etc — Preceding unsigned comment added by 204.100.235.162 (talk) 17:02, 9 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Broken template

[edit]

The Template:Android (operating system) is not displayed as the table (as it should be), but instead as a link to the templates documentation page. Maybe its because of the articles size? Nyraxis (talk) 18:59, 9 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

 Fixed. InfiniteNexus (talk) 17:27, 10 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Split?

[edit]

This list is getting unwieldly large (453k bytes!) I think it would be a better idea to split this list into multiple articles (for example List of Android Gingerbread smartphones), and have this article be a list of those articles, or at least only show the most popular smartphones of those operating systems. OzzyOlly (talk) 20:08, 3 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I think that this list can be divided into subsections with the companies' names. There are already some articles with lists of some companies' smartphones, so, in my opinion, some tables could be left until lists about that brand's smartphones are created. If there is already a list of some brand's smartphones, then a link to the corresponding article could be provided under that subsection. Maksdroider (talk) 13:20, 2 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I think it would be more helpful to list it by OS. We already do it with Windows Phones, List of Windows Phone 7 devices List of Windows Phone 8 devices etc. OzzyOlly (talk) 04:35, 6 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
