April 22 & 23 2020 Edits

Why are large sections of this page being deleted? What is the reasoning for this? --Assyriandude (talk) 21:21, 23 April 2020 (UTC)

The relevant policies have been linked. You can just click them to see the reasoning. Asking this again and again is WP:IDHT and it is getting disruptive. Not to mention continuing edit-wars by numerous sockpuppets and meatpuppets (including you). Instead of insisting on restoring the sock's edits, why don't you create your *own* content to improve the page? Just use the google, find secondary RS on the subject and improve the page by careful attention to policies linked - no one would remove that content. You can create a draft page for your changes or can use your sandbox. I added a secondary RS to the page previously[1], in case other editors want to improve the page by adding more contents from it. I will not respond WP:IDHT questions from suspected socks or meats anymore. Puduḫepa 22:18, 23 April 2020 (UTC)
A quick overview of the added content does not appear to be overly problematic. Some parts are overtly pro-Assyrian, giving undue weight to Ottoman/Turkish and Kurdish hostilities and likely ignoring a lot of information, but that can be mitigated by removing or shortening the unsourced content if sources cannot be found. I propose moving the content to a draft to be worked on and, if the people interested in the removed content want to contribute on it, with the exception of the blocked user of course, putting it through AfC. Pinging Assyriandude and Puduḫepa. Best regards, Vermont (talk) 22:52, 23 April 2020 (UTC)
I don't see why this should go to AfC, unless we want a POV fork or content fork page. Yes, the user can create his own content on his sandbox and then, after finishing his work, he can link it on this talk page to get feedbacks from the other editors. A content based on consensus would be more stable. Puduḫepa 23:01, 23 April 2020 (UTC)
Okay. How about just moving it to draftspace to be worked on, not necessarily through AfC? Vermont (talk) 23:35, 23 April 2020 (UTC)
I believe that Lothar has that here.

Thanks! Vermont (talk) 13:55, 24 April 2020 (UTC)
Vermont, in my opinion, TNT is the best solution. Puduḫepa 07:43, 24 April 2020 (UTC)
PS: This is a "Wikimedia list article" and thus, its content's format should be the same with the format of other list articles - tables would be useful. Puduḫepa 08:41, 24 April 2020 (UTC)
I would like to ping @Srnec: who had improved many pages regarding the Christians of the Middle East. Srnec, we have almost a month to work on a stable version of this page. The sock version was filled with naively POV contents that had many issues (a number of them were mentioned, see the revision history) and the current version is a stub that needs to be improved. It would be great if you have some time to work on this, because I doubt incompetent aggressive socks or meats would greatly improve the page. Puduḫepa 07:14, 24 April 2020 (UTC)
Thanks for the ping, but I'm afraid I can't really be of assistance here. This subject is outside of my wheelhouse. Srnec (talk) 14:11, 24 April 2020 (UTC)

Future of this page

Hi all,

Despite what has happened recently with this page, this page is simply unacceptable as it currently stands. I have the necessary sources to properly populate this page and will get to work on this shortly.

However, I sincerely believe that the WikiProject Assyria community should have time to discuss this article and to review and provide references. My concern with the removal was that it was sudden and there was no good-faith discussion regarding this page's improvement before that removal was done. Thoughts? --Assyriandude (talk) 03:14, 25 April 2020 (UTC)

I guess it is ok to give the Wikiproject Assyria some time to work on the content, I believe too that there was valuable info in the text added. But including numerous unsourced Iranian villages and adding wikilinks to them... and there is no info about some Assyrian settlement at the Iranian villages as well, all this mixed up with unsourced sections, is I think a bit difficult to accept. I also wouldn't add content like this. If content was added like this in 2010, ok, at that time wikipedia was different, but today, difficult. We have an article List of Assyrian settlements, maybe you can add some of the info there if it is not already present. But I also agree with you, that the article csn be expanded. If there is interest present now, why not?Paradise Chronicle (talk) 10:19, 27 April 2020 (UTC)
