Split[edit]

This list should be split starting from volume 49. Volumes 1-21 (Death Substitute Arc) are split story-wise, so it makes sense for Volumes 22-48 (ARRANCAR Arc) and Volumes 49+ (Death Substitute Vanishment Arc) to be seperated story-wise too. 48 is the end of the ARRANCAR Arc (the last chapter being 423, Bells Are Blue/Bleach My Soul/The Vanishing Soul) and 49 the start of the Death Substitute Vanishment Arc (the first chapter being 424, The Lost Agent). As for what official sources break this way, the UNMASKED book ends on chapter 423 and as stated on the official Shonen Jump website chapter 424 is part of the Death Substitute Vanishment Arc. There are also many reports of the XCUTION being seperated into a 'Part 2' by Kubo Taito himself. It will make the list for ARRANCAR Arc longer than Death Substitute Arc, but the Bleach anime season pages aren't exactly all a set size either. Akata (talk) 21:55, 4 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The reason why the first list is vols 1-21 is because of how the series was published by Viz as discussed in the talk page from List of Bleach manga volumes. More confusing is that as far as I remember vol 21 ends the Soul Society arc and at the same time starts the Arrancar arc. That would also apply to the Subsitute arc that lasts for the first six or seven volumes, so it would require more unnecessary splitting.Tintor2 (talk) 23:15, 4 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Well, as it happens, that's not the only source splitting after volume 21. The SOULs book also contains volumes 1-21 -- and though it's the anime, TV Tokyo's site shows two clear arcs, Soul Society Arc and Arrancar Arc. Evidence in style differences publication can also be found on the covers for 49 onward -- rather than using coloured text, coloured outlines are used to define text, said text changes from ALL CAPS to Title Case, the katakana reading of the title is removed, and Kubo Taito's credit changes from 久保帯人 to kubotite. Similar can't be said for a change between 42 and 43. Also though it might not mean much, Amazon.co.jp sells a set of volumes 1-48. Akata (talk) 00:57, 5 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
That sounds more like wp:original research than sources confirming it. Moreover, the split was due to weight issues, not story arcs and thus every list has the same amount of volume (except the current one).Tintor2 (talk) 01:05, 5 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
