Unsorted list[edit]

I have sorted as many of the cast as I can; the list of unsorted actors can now be found here. Editus Reloaded 16:16, 13 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Content Discussion (from WP:CSI)[edit]

Splitting sections[edit]

Should we split off a subsection for notable villains. I'm thinking:
  • Paul Millander (Bathtub Killer)
  • Natalie Davis (Miniature Killer)
  • Blue Paint Killer (and John Mathers?)
  • Tammy Felton (kidnap victim turned larcenous psychopath)

Thoughts? Editus Reloaded 15:22, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think 'occupation' would be the best sort. CSIs, Lab Rats, Detectives, Criminals (subsection for Serial Killers) ... -- Ipstenu (talkcontribs) 15:59, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Nice idea (inasmuch as "Serial Killer" is an occupation). I'm thinking Lab Technicians or Crime Lab is better and more objective than Lab Rats, which is a slight pejorative. I'll get onto it. Editus Reloaded 16:04, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
In fact looking at it, I could group Lab Techs and CSIs, as there is only Holly and Keppler in the recurring CSIs section. Editus Reloaded 16:05, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hence 'occupation' in quotes ;) We need a good 'major' header though, since Lab Techs, CSIs (and I'd put all our CSI's under there, including Holly and Keppy), Medical Examiners and Office Staff (like Judy! Love her) all work under the header of 'Police Department.' Heck so do the cops for that matter. Teri Miller would fall under 'Visiting Specialists', and I think 'Victims' would be good for people like whazzerface from Kiss-Kiss Bang-Bang. -- Ipstenu (talkcontribs) 16:09, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I've made a preliminary attempt to sort them out, have a look. I think that putting Teri Miller in a separate subheading is unnecessary, as she would be the only one in it, apart from a handwriting specialist from I-15 Murders about whom nothing is known, not even a name. I'd just bung her in Crime Lab. Would put Judy in that category too for the same reason. You could split off M.E.s; make a subheading of Super Dave Phillips (actor David Berman), the original M.E. from the first season (name escapes me) and anyone else who plays an M.E. Grouping all PD staff together is a bit excessive, unless you have determined ambitions to get it to featured list status? Editus Reloaded 16:19, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Guest Stars[edit]

Would it be worth having the guest stars in a 2 column list with the episode they appeared in parentheses afterwards? Visually it looks odd having the guests in differnt numbers of columns (depending more on how many there were in each season) and this would even it up and be quite hepful. (Emperor 16:23, 5 June 2007 (UTC))[reply]
Good idea Emperor, but that will take a LOT of research and back-tracing, especially as we don't have articles for all the episodes. This list is a task that needs to be taken one bite at a time. On other matters, I found the M.E. from the pilot (I think): actress Susan Gibney, character Dr. Charlotte Meridian. Editus Reloaded 16:29, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Indeed it will take a bit of work. However, if we sketch it out (get them into 2 columns and add a few examples) then other editors will get involved. Also as the missing episodes are sketched out members of the project can keep an eye out for the guest stars and drop them in here. I'm not expecting it done at once ;) but if we create a framework and some expamples then we can can get the ball roling which will allow the information to be filled in. I'll do a quick example and you all can see what you think. (Emperor 16:58, 5 June 2007 (UTC))[reply]
You can see what I'm getting at now although it needs more work (should be failry straightforward. I've removed a couple fo season 1 examples as they are mentioned above. Also note Note Timothy Carhart [1] and Shonda Farr [2] play recurring characters (the former is Eddie Willows) and should probably be included in the main lists. (Emperor 17:26, 5 June 2007 (UTC))[reply]
Also: Sam Jones III [3] and Judith Scott [4]. What this might show is that this could also winkle out repeating characters. Note I included Garland Whitt's 2 appearances as they appear to be different people (without watching the repeats). (Emperor 17:37, 5 June 2007 (UTC))[reply]
No they aren't. In the first two episodes of Season 1, Garland Whitt portrays Jerrod Cooper, the man who shot Holly Gribbs to death at the end of Pilot. Trust me, I was in a car for seven hours last week, and I had my CSI DVDs on the in-car entertainment. Editus Reloaded 10:06, 7 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

General Discussion[edit]

Will put Judge Cohen (from Pilot) in Notable Villians as he tried to blackmail Warrick. Editus Reloaded 16:32, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Found Judy Tremont's actor and appearances Ipstenu, don't panic. Editus Reloaded 16:43, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm working on an example: User:Ipstenu/List_of_CSI_Characters. It's in progress, though and I'll let you know when I'm done going over IMDB for people with 10+ appearances on CSI. Egad! -- Ipstenu (talkcontribs) 17:03, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Okay this is as done as I'm getting for now. If you want a quick episode count, you can troll IMdB for it. It's not THAT hard just a PITA ;) -- Ipstenu (talkcontribs) 17:33, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Good work. I listed a couple of recurring characters - I see you caught Judith Scott but there is also Timothy Carhart as Eddie Willows and that is an important one. We can cross check the lists and it will all come together seamlessly but that is very good. (Emperor 17:41, 5 June 2007 (UTC))[reply]
I saw Eddie, and then decided I needed to eat ;) The main diff between what I did and what you have is I put Character Name first, since I thought it was about CSI and not the actors. Hit or miss that one. -- Ipstenu (talkcontribs) 17:42, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

As a rule, you put cast member names first in cast lists. But I will change "status" header to "character status", so that we don't get a call from Harrison Young about how he's apparently in jail for blackmail, perverting the course of justice and "violating 7 articles of scumbag" (Capt. Brass to Judge Cohen, Season 1 episode 4). Editus Reloaded 18:12, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Really? List of Law & Order characters (from whom I shamelessly cribbed) does it character -> actor since ... it's list of characters. Most of the other shows with lists like this are cartoons, though. I think this is a case of no precedent! Eeek! ;) -- Ipstenu (talkcontribs) 18:21, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I know, and I checked the L&O list. But that is a list of characters, not a list of cast members. For a CSI list of characters, see List of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation characters. Editus Reloaded 18:23, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

EDIT:Other than that, I've cadged nearly all your ideas. Thanks a bundle! Editus Reloaded 18:25, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You know, if I bothered to READ the title of the page *ahem* And now that's another problem. Why are we sporting both List of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation characters and List of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation cast members? -- Ipstenu (talkcontribs) 18:28, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A damn good question, but I that's how it was set up. I assume that the character list is for short biographies of the characters, the cast list is...(drum roll)...a list of the cast, nothing else. Editus Reloaded 18:35, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It seems overkill. I'd be for merging them both into LIST of CSI characters, but using this page as the new format. I'm going to stew on that before slapping up merge tags... I'm sure I'm missing something. -- Ipstenu (talkcontribs) 20:05, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Blunder[edit]

Charlotte Meridian is not the original M.E. for Graveyard, she is the Pink Floyd-hating print tech in the pilot ep. Editus Reloaded 17:59, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

IIRC the original ME was African American. Judith Scott was Dr. Jenna Williams, whom I think was the ME. But hey, 'Madeleine Falkskog' played Catherine's unnamed, and never again mentioned, sister. -- Ipstenu (talkcontribs) 13:23, 7 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Check IMDB here, Judith Scott (the African American Judith Scott, anyway) is Dr Williams. Editus Reloaded 15:51, 7 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
