This project might be`assisted by reading Nicholas Orme The saints of Cornwall; Oxford University Press, 2000 ISBN 0-19-820765-4. It has a 200 page Dictionary of`Saints and scholarly essays on the background of Cornish religious cults of saints.

St Sen(n)an

[edit]

The link for St Sennen points to the Persian(?) Abdon and Sennen. Is the Cornish connection not more likely to be with Senan of Laraghbrine or Senán mac Geirrcinn? --Frans Fowler (talk) 03:27, 9 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

A note by Donald Attwater in Doble, G. H. (1960) The Saints of Cornwall; part 1. Truro: Dean and Chapter; p. 145 points out that the life of St Senan by Doble is not being reprinted since the St Senan of Scattery Island appears to have no connection with the Cornish Sennen. In 1327 and 1430 the patron of Sennen is described as a female saint Senana. Cornish Saints Series no. 15 (1928) examined the Irish saint and included a paraphrase of the 2nd life of him in the Acta Sanctorum; March.--Johnsoniensis (talk) 06:44, 9 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Recent undiscussed move

[edit]

I have reverted the recent undiscussed move to List of Cornish Catholic saints and beatified people. I am not convinced that all the Cornish saints are called saints by the Roman Catholic church, nor am I convinced that those who are are exclusively RC and not also recognised by other churches.
